Seapass Card For Kids

Recommended Posts

There might be a way to put a cap on it - rather than using a credit card, you could put a certain amount of cash of each of their cards so that the card will be rejected if they go above the limit. You could either put a certain amount for the week, or a certain amount per day. I would think that would work.

Not necessarily. My understanding is that they allow cash accts to get $500 in the red before turning off the card.

I do know that there is a max on the amount a kid can put on their SeaPass in the arcade each day. We were on Mariner last spring, and I don;t recall the max amount, but it wasn't very high. We had to go to guest services and OK additional arcade charges on her SeaPass.

I do not recall limits on anything else. We had applied a credit card to our kids' accounts and just monitored them daily.

If you can put a limit on it, you should. Our first cruise we gave our 14 year old his own seapass. At the end of the cruise, he had charged over $200 of drinks on the seapass. We caught him once "setting up the bar" for his teen friends. Of course he bought virgin versions of the frozen drinks. We told him he could get virgin drinks if he wanted so it was okay. We weren't upset with him. It has turned into a funny story to tell people that our son's bar bill was larger than ours. And he had a great time. He is now heading out on the Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier for 6 months. He is an intelligence specialist in the Navy. Wish he could be with us this cruise to charge up another $200 LOL.

This is what we did with our then 9 year old. Turned off his card from charging when we checked in. Then went to the pursers desk and put down $250 for a 7 day cruise on the Navigator (great arcade). That was for his arcade, drinks and shopping. We told him whatever he did not spent, he could keep when we checked out. He had $80 left when we checked out. It really taught him to budget and realize the value of the dollar. Some nights, he would just skip the arcade and stay in the AO where the computer games were free. Yes, they will let them go over the cash limit, but just DONOT tell them that, tell you kids this is the budget, work with it.

Congratulations to your son. Please tell him Thank You from the O'Shea's. My husband was on an aircraft carrier when I met him 15 years ago.
