Do'in the DOC dance but it's not the jig...

We got our docs today but our ship borad credit is NOWHERE on them. I understood from this board that it probably would be reflected somwhere on my docs because we were told about the credit from our TA about a month ago. I called Carnival and they were NO HELP because we didn't book with them. They won't even look at our reservation. Now that's customer service!! I e-mailed my TA and stated that I want something faxed from Carnival ASAP about my shipboard credit. We will see what happens. We sail the Elation on a Sunday so there is no way we can get in tough with her on sailing day if there is a problem. Heck, we can't even get in touch with her during regular business hours. PLEASE, someone set my mind at ease. Who has been through a similiar scenario? Carnival did tell me that the credit is not supposed to be on my docs. ANyone had it show up on their docs? Thanks for your help!
I would not survive ifd it weren't for this board!

Mine was not on my docs. Try to get a written confirmation from your TA to take with you to the ship.

Ditto to the above post. I had gotten a shipboard credit before my cruise. My TA simply sent me a letter faxed from Carnival showing my shipboard credit. When I applied for my Sail and Sign card, I showed them the letter and they applied the credit to my account.

Thanks for the info. I am feeling better about the credit not being on my docs. As you all can probably tell, I do not have the utmost confidence in my TA. I have requested a FAX from Carnival via her. I will keep my fingers crossed! Anyone not had their credit when they were promised one?

JUst try to call Carnival give them your booking number and say I am trying to verify a shipboard credit can you please advise me if this is on my account. If they say they can't do it ask for a supervisor..I don't know why they wouldn't tell you that it has nothing to do with you changing reservations you made thru other TA. I did it last year and they were happy to advise if it was indeed on there. Maybe you got someone just not wanting to help out or maybe I got somone who was just very helpful and gave me the same info you are looking for. Also if you can't get a hold of your Ta and if he or she works in a big travel firm then just ask someone else to verify for you..all they will need is your name and booking number instead of waiting for your TA. Also usually TA's will advise when a shipboard credit has been issue by phone/fax/email..but the only way I think to really make sure its there is thru Carnival. Goodluck and hope its there..thats more Foo's Foo's..lol have a wonderful cruise!!!!!

Cyt,
Thanks for the info. I will be more persistant. I spoke to someone named "leonardo" who would not help me. I asked for a supervisor and he said that he couldn;t hook me up with one, that I would need to call my TA and do a three way call. Nice customer service hugh? I will call again today and see if I can get through to someone. I was very nice , not grouchy, so I was surprised that Leonardo wouldn't budge. Carnival will not speak to you if you have booked through a TA. You *must* go through the TA, but a conference call is certainly a viable option.

This is simply a sound business practice on Carnival's part. They really have no idea that you are who you say you are. What if someone got ahold of your booking information and called Carnival directly to make changes or even cancel you? Might could happen, and if it did you would probably be ranting about Carnival not being diligent about who they were speaking to.

Probably wouldn't hurt to bring your cell phone and TA phone number with you when you board. If you are boarding on a sunday, you may not be able to reach your TA. But any other day, it might be worth it!!

Thanks for the insight TEF. I never really thought of the implications if someone other than myself called Carnival. That makes sense. We sail on a Sunday so we would not be able to reach our TA. As I stated before, we cannot even reach her during the week. I did receive an e-mail from her this AM and she is going to TRY to get a fax from Carnival confirming our credits. I find it hard to beleive that I am the first client who has asked for written confirmation of a shipboard credit. The saga goes on....

Bevro,
Thanks for your info. I was told yesterday by Carnival that the credits are never on the docs. I knew that I wasn't dreaming it up, as I have read from many posters that their credits were on their docs. Where on your docs was it listed?

StacyM.... can't wait to here how this works out for you. I have a sneaky feeling that we've booked our cruise through the same travel agency in Texas (V.T.?) I haven't had any problems, but have had some paperwork glitches regarding type of room, etc. We are not sailing until September.

QT,
Actually I booked my cruise with an online TA not out of Texas, but in the future, I will book directly with Carnival just for the peace of mind. There have been a couple of issues that I would have liked addressed and Carnival wouldn't touch it because I didn't book with them. We did get an awesome price and a great credit (if it's really there, which remains to be seen). This board is so great! I didn't know about it last year when we sailed the Celebration, but you can bet I am hopelessly addicted now! We would have never known of any such thing as a price drop had I not been on these boards. My DH just rolls his eyes when I tell him that I am actually saving us money by surfing these boards! Cruisin,
The only problem with that is that since I didn't book with Carnival, I can't pull up my reservation on their website. I am having the same problem with the website as most of the other folks on this board. I was able to do my funpass just fine but nothing eles. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Just wanted to update those of you who were so kind to respond to my post... Istill have NOTHING in writing about my credit. The TA said she called Carnival and they confirm that it is there, but we still haven't received the requested FAX. For those of you that have been through a similiar situation, Do you have any suggestions on how I could confirm this myself with Carnival? My three calls to them have been to no avail. This is a substanital ship board credit and I will be really bummed if I get there and they know nothing about it. We sail the Elation June 20.
Thanks for your wonderful wisdom fellow CC'ers!

Hi StaceyM:

Sorry your travel agent isn't making you happy. I am a travel agent and I place my customers as my first priority. Did your travel agent ever put it in writing that you would be getting an onboard credit? I would have to tell you that, if they did not, don't ever accept just their word for it. I will always put it in writing if I offer this.

Did you try viewing your booking online with those details? There is a way to see if an onboard credit is showing. After signing in to "My Reservation", cut and paste the words after .com/ to say BookModify.aspx. Whatever you do, though, don't hit the submit or cancel buttons. If you need help, just email me at mrsgoofy98@comcast.net.

Good luck,
Donna

Hi StaceyM - First of all...have you registered with Carnival to fill in your Fun Pass stuff online? If you have go to Carnival and log into your reservation. Once you have logged on paste this into your browser:

http://www.carnival.com/BookModify.aspx

This will pull up your reservation information and I think all the credit stuff should be in there.

Let me know if that worked...

Dawn and Mrs Goofy, You guys are awesome for tyring to help me! I cannot log in to my reservation.. It still says that I don't have a reservation. I can however go to my fun pass info and have it printed out. Am I doing something wrong? When I put the info in that you gave me, It tells me that there is an error. I don;t know what I would do without this board! Oh to answer your question, My TA did e-mail me something when we first found out about the credit but it just stated the amount that we would get. It was not from Carnival and not what I would consider official. Thanks for your help andlet me know if I am doinf soemthing wrong!! Stacey

Stacy,

I just went through the same thing with my TA. After 2 weeks of emailing, my TA said she finally got the fax from Carnival but would not send me a copy since she said it had other information regarding my booking that would confuse me, I guess commission info, ect. She did send me an agency confirmation that states that we have an onboard booking credit and the amount. In a past post here i read that this happened to someone and they just went to the pursers' desk; they called the agent and the credit was applied.
I hope you have better luck than I Stacey, if not just be sure to at least bring a confirm. or copy of the email from your TA stating your credit. Seems our TA's don't want to give us decent service - I won't be using this one again!
Mrs. Goofy and Dawn, I was able to access my reservation by going to the link you said, was able to review my reservation, but the onboard credit was not listed?....I hope i don't have to be worried! Is there another way to check for this?
Thanks, and good luck Stacey!

Leo's Mom,
Thanks for the info. At least I'm glad I am not alone in this one. Can you tell me the exact steps you took to look at your reservation. Did you go to the funpass screen and then type what the OP's said to type? I am with a group of 24 on the Elation and we are all in the same boat with this. There will be a mutany on the bounty if the credits are not applied. Our biggest problem is that we sail on a Sunday so we can't get in otuch with our TA on that day. It will be too late. Did you use an online TA?

Hi Stacey,

Yes, i did use an online TA, Bestpricecruises. The TA emailed us and said that she had spoken to Carnival twice, she had a fax from them and that our credit was intact and that we would just have to believe her! As i said, she did re send us a revised confirmation so we decided to not worry about it. We are sailing on a Saturday and will be able to contact the agency if there are any problems. It would seem easy enough to just send us a copy of the fax with just whiting out the $$ info that she doesn't want us to see, but I decided it's too much of a hassle to argue about. One thing i can confirm is that she did say that it is not unusual and does take carnival 2 weeks to fax a confirm to them.
I understand your concern, just keep emailing your agent and hopefully she will comply before your cruise. Do you at least have an email from her that says you will be receiving an onboard credit?

I was able to look at my reservation by first logging into my account with my password.
That should take you to a page where you will see your booking #. Then just copy the link that mrsgoofy and dawn so graciously gave us
http://www.carnival.com/BookModify.aspx
this should take you directly to your reservation. I hope your credit will show up here as others have said....mine didn't though.
