Question for past "Northern Lights" cruisers

Princess does a couple of Northern Lights cruises every year and I am interested in one on the Island Princess in October. If anyone reading this has taken one of these cruises, I would like to know if they make an effort to dim the lights on the upper deck for the time the ship is in the Artic Circle. A bunch of light pollution from MUTS, etc., would be a deal-breaker for me. I know there are excursions to totally dark areas, but I just want the top of the ship to be my excursion. Thanks for any guidance.
