Vancouver Door Dash -- Does it Work

Several years ago (at least 3), DH and I were staying at the Pan Pacific Vancouver for a couple of nights prior to our cruise and decided to use Door Dash for delivery of dinner one night.  The restaurant we chose was open and accepting orders...and offered delivery through Door Dash to our location during that time period.  We placed our order...but were immediately notified that the order was cancelled.  We tried several more times...and even used another account (each of us has our own)...but the same thing happened.  There was no way to contact anyone in Door Dash management/customer service...so in the end, we just ordered room service from the hotel.

Has anyone ever had this happen in Vancouver...?  If so, any idea why the orders were cancelled without explanation...?  (Or, if there was an explanation, what was it...?)  We've used Door Dash successfully in other places...and never had this happen before.  And we were never able to ascertain why the order kept getting cancelled.  The only thing we could guess was that we were from the US...and maybe there was some issue with the restaurant/Door Dash thinking we were placing a fraudulent order.

We'll be in Vancouver again this fall, so just starting to look at our options for dining...and whether we can count on Door Dash.

Thanks...

This is just a guess, but perhaps Door Dash doesn't deliver to hotels?  Or, at least that hotel?  We have had that issue before, but have worked our way around it by meeting the delivery person in the lobby.  The hotel might be able to enlighten you as perhaps it is due to their policy, rather than Door Dash.

^This. I know plenty of Americans who have used their DD, Ubereats, Skip accounts to order delivery to hotels here so the platforms do work for out-of-towners here. Since Covid, with all the quarantining, some hotel policies on delivery services have relaxed considerably - but it's definitely best to check with your hotel and ask what their rules are about lobby or to-the-room-door deliveries...

Personally though I'd be asking the hotel which local restos they recommend that deliver independently, so your cash stays local, or using one of the local fairly-priced independent delivery services like from:to or fantuan (if you want Asian food delivered, this is the bees knees!)
