SPLENDOR/Alaska questions for those with RECENT first-hand knowledge.

Re: my upcoming B2B2B to the Splendor 8/2 to 8/23. For those with first-hand knowledge who have recently been on the Splendor, if I may ask:

1) How was the ship's temperature kept inside the public areas, on the cool side or or on the warm side?

I like it COLD, yes all Capitals, it can NEVER be cold enough for me and that is precisely why I want to get away to Alaska for 3 weeks from the stifling SoCal heat.

2) Has Alaska been warmer in general this season?

I know I am talking 3-4 weeks from now and weather can change overnight but I would appreciate any feedback of what it has been like so far this season.

Thank you guys.

I just got off the Splendor on 7/12.  The temperature inside was comfortable, neither hot nor cold, probably 68 degrees or so.  The exception is the main theater, which was cold enough to need a sweater for some performances.  The Alaska weather for my cruise was not the greatest, but it didn’t keep me from enjoying it.  Temperatures were around 55 to 60 with overcast skies in Sitka and Juneau.  Ketchikan was steady rain, wind and cold.  I didn’t get off in Ketchikan, but people I spoke with said they were very cold and drenched when they got back on the ship.

Oh Golly, thanks so much NWCruise....that sounds like my ideal cruise! 68 degrees is fabulous, I may sleep in the theater then if my cabin does not go down cold enough....lol....☺️.....you are my favorite weatherman/gal....lol...yes, did I say how MUCH I LOVE the cold weather?!?!

Thanks again and thanks also for the other day answering my Masala Tiger question, that is where I will be having my lunch 21 straight days in a row.....and I have a brand new bottle of 100 Gaviscon tablets to take care of the ensuing heartburn! rofl..lol..lmao 😅😁😂

That's ironic no, that I love the cold weather and then here I am a HUGE fan of some of the HOTTEST cuisine on the face of the planet: INDIAN!!!

I also got off on 7/12 and while mostly the temp was comfortable in jeans/tshirt, the Casino was very cold, especially on the smoking side.  If you like it cooler you will like the ship.

My husband also loves the Masala tiger and ate lunch there every day of our cruise.

I am not sure how full the ship was.  There was never an instance that i couldn't go to some entertainment i wanted, and we could always find some spots at the table games we like to play. I never felt crowded which was nice.

The service wasn't particularly slow in the dining room so I am assuming either we were not full or they had better staffing than the MG did earlier this year.  One of the staff mentioned the ship stopped in the Philippines on the way to seattle from dubai to pick up staff, so they may be better staffed than some other fleet ships that have to coordinate to get the staff to the ships.

We got off the Splendor on July 5th.  Ship temp was just right I would say.  In the cabin we turn the thermostat as cold as it will go and it was very cool…I think you’d be happy with it if you like a cold cabin temp for sleeping.  We had amazing weather…highs around 70, lows maybe mid to high 40’s.  We also had no rain, fantastic considering Ketchikan gets something like 300 days of rain a year.  Our cruise felt like it was at or near capacity.  I know the forward cabins on deck 1 were the COVID quarantine cabins. My guess would be the ship was full except for the cabins set aside for that.  Hope you enjoy your cruise!

As for warm temperatures, it was in the 70s in Tracy Arm, Juneau and Ketchikan when I was up there last week of June.  Only Victoria Day was foggy, and only fog on shore burned off quickly in Ketchikan 82D0651E-4EA5-4A79-BDFC-FED32906AD8A.thumb.jpeg.c81642a96b1ad041c847e387307dcf33.jpeg03CA3230-8392-4F59-B5BE-2EF29D057B4F.thumb.jpeg.557138e4111c87cc68e469e58d23b935.jpeg
