Ijmuiden into Amsterdam recommendations including canal tour

We are a family of 8 and would love to do a canal tour as well as a city tour of Amsterdam.  We arrive into Ijmuiden.  Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance.

Maybe your ship offers a tour like that. Otherwise you can try to find a private driver, which will be rather difficult with that many people and it might be very expensive.

The other way will be public transport.  As an example I give you this link.

It mean you need to walk to the bus stop, take bus 382 to Amsterdam Sloterdijk station. From there take a train to Amsterdam Centraal Station. Expected time to travel just over 1 hour. In that case you need  bus tickets and also traintickets which you can buy online.
