Anybody getting married on Princess ????

Recommended Posts

Yep! I am getting married May 23rd, sail date May 20th, 2006 on the Carribean Princess. Anyone else getting married this week? I would love to see pictures of anyone's wedding who is or has been married through this cruise line. We are getting married in Jamaica but Princess is taking care of all of the details.

I just got married on Grand Princess on March 5, 2006. It was a cruise from hell....becareful with Princess and their doctors. My husband went to the infirmary due to sea sickness. They gave him a shot and called me in the hair salon and said there was an emergency. I was in the chair hair half done and my mom comes back and says the wedding is OFF. The doctor and captain decided he would "not be of sound mind". He however felt wonderful and went to the pool and began eating again, etc. This was 3 and a half hours before our wedding. I after a few hours of PURE SHOCK went to the pursers desk and started complaing. LOUDLY!! I was escorted into a special room and they just listened as I unloaded. She got the doctor on the phone and he said he didn't tell him the wedding was off, etc, etc, placing blame on eachother!! We finally had a wedding, they gave us an hour to get ready. I couldn't get my hair done. If we didn't do it that day we would have had to wait another 5 days for the last "at sea" day. I was like I am NOT having it. So I did my own hair. I am just beyond disappointed with Princess. The wedding was so late we couldn't do all the pictures. They said they would take us another day, however my hubby got the Norwalk virus and never left the cabin again and we ended up disembarking in Cozumel and flying home. So I paid 1000 dollars for pics that to me just don't add up to that. Perhaps I am complaining, I surely do NOT want to rain on anyones wedding. Please be aware of what they can do!! I had no clue when I sent him down there my wedding I had planned for 7 months would be totally screwed up!! Watch out ladies.

Hello All~

I’m getting married on the Caribbean Princess on June 26. We are sailing on June 24th.

Canddk & Weddingbound06- You’ll have to tell me how your weddings go, so I will know what to expect. I have a friend who got married on the Caribbean Princess July 4th last year and she had an amazing time! (which helps me feel better!)

Tatdmon~ I am so sorry your wedding day turned into a nightmare! Is there anything Princess did to try to make things better? I know it has only been a couple days, but I hope things are getting better.

CrazyCruisers- Hi. They did not do anything. They were more than happy to get us off the ship a.s.a.p. I didn't even get into my booking nightmare with them. We, as well as my parents are platinum members of the captains circle. We had a hell of a time with them and will never be cruising with them again if at all. I made mention of my unhappiness with the fact that we got less pictures than normal for the same price. They told me I needed to contact the Wedding Experience with any complaints. As usual they just load it off between eachother. A 12,000 dollar wedding down the drain. Maybe some day in the future we can have another one.

My mom also got married on Princess. We had a great time at hers. Mine for some reason was just a nightmare. :(

Hi -

We received our time and location for our April 11th ceremony on St. Thomas. We're getting married at Bolongo Bay(I was hopig for Magans). Does anyone know anything about Bolongo Beach...in comparison to Magans, I'm afraid it might not be as beautiful. We have been to neither beach so any input on what we can expect at Bolongo would be much appreciated.

Thanks -

30 days and couting until Cruise!

We are getting closer. Four weeks till sail-away.

Time is flying by.

We were hoping to have a steel-drum band play for one hour at our small reception in the Wheelhouse Bar, but Princess contacted TWE today and said, "no can do."

We can have a little reception in that location, but the steel-drum band is not available.

So....... now what?

Should we take a portable CD player and play our own island-type music and then a few special songs for "our first dance," my dance with Dad, my fiance's dance with his mom, etc.. etc.. ???

Help !!

canddk - Anxious to hear about Bolongo Beach when you get back.

Good luck to all!!!

We were married on the Caribbean Princess in October and I can assure you to ease your mind, they just couldn't do enough for us... from the time we got on the ship until we disembarked, everyone was absolutely wonderful to us --- and our wedding was the most magical day of my life!! I have been reliving it every day! Our wedding coordinator on board was Randall --- and he was quite a perfectionist and just made everything happen! :-)

We were married on the Sun Deck - had a luncheon at Sabatini's after the ceremony (which was unbelievable) and then had our reception next door at the Wheelhouse (which also was fantastic!). We brought our own music on CD's to play and it still was wonderful!!

All of the flowers were just gorgeous and the cake was magnificent. The Captain was also such a pleasure and even gave us a personal tour of the bridge.

If I can help with any questions you may have, please let me know - and if you'd like to see pictures -- I have those too. You can email me at ellenbenet@aol.com

Thanks, Ellen.

I can only WISH I was that beautiful.

Since I haven't taken any bridal pictures yet, I used this headshot that I found through an online store that specializes in veils. And I selected this picture because I absolutely L-O-V-E-D the veil.

Once I get my pictures back from our wedding, I promise to update my avatar. (even though this current pic is much, much easier on the eyes!!) :p

Here's a link to the veil website:

Thanks for your helpfulness.

Your cake was beautiful. LOVED it.

Few questions for ya:

(1) Did you make a special request regarding your wedding cake, or is that a standard cake on the CB?

I'm specifically interested in the dots or "icing pearls" that were on your cake. I've seen some other Princess wedding cakes that were very Plain Jane, so I'd love my cake to look like yours.

(2) Did you have to pay extra for the flowers on your cake??

If so, what did that cost ya?

(3) Did you pre-order all corsages, etc., etc. thru TWE or did you order them after you boarded the ship???

Yes - we loved our cake - it was truly magnificent ---and just 'everyone' commented on it as they were bringing it in to the reception. I realize it was alot for our group, but I was more focused on presentation than on having too much wedding cake.

I did make a special request for the cake. This is not the standard cake on the CP. Here is the link that I sent to TWE. The cake (including the flowers on it) cost $442.75. In fact, the florist also included some extra flowers for around the cake on the table (no charge). The cake was called 'Simply Devoted' http://www.publix.com/custom/wedding/CakeDetail.do?categoryId=1&cakeId=1000

I ordered all my bouquets and corsages thru TWE and they all turned out beautiful!!! For mine, I added an additional 6 ivory roses (total roses was 18) and peach fillers with ivy and greenery to be added to my package bouquet and the cost was an additional $70.

My bridesmaids bouquets were an additinoal $80/each -- they included 9 peach roses and filler.

Ellen-

Congratulations on your marriage! Thank you so much for sharing your photos--you looked gorgeous and you and your DH looked like you were having a fantastic time, which is the best part!

Your cake was so pretty, and it gives me hope that they won't screw up our special order cake--it's so expensive!

I do have a question for you. Was your ceremony music on deck 16 live or piped in? Also, at your reception, did you provide the CD player or did you hook up an ipod or something similar to their sound system.

Thanks,

Traci

Thank you so much - and yes, we did have a fantastic time -- as I mentioned several times before, I feel like I have been reliving our wedding every day!

Don't worry about them messing up your special request cake - I can assure you they are very, very good with their wedding cakes!

We had cd's piped in for our ceremony on the sun deck. And it was very clear and not twangy -- very pretty echoing over the waters. The music we choose was -- Evergreen by Barbra Streisand for the Prelude. Through the Eyes of Love for the Processional of the Bridesmaids. The First Time Ever by Celine Dion for my Processional. Watermark for the signing of the log books and Celebration by Cool & the Gang as our Recessional song to liven things up!

As for the reception, they have a cd player - you don't have to bring one. Just put your songs on cd's that you want played and they will handle it. They are very accommodating with everything -- making you feel very, very special on your special day! :-)

I was married on the Caribbean Princess last May. It was wonderful. It was not perfect, but it was wonderful.

We had a 'jazz combo' in the Wheelhouse Lounge. We also had an acoustic guitarist for the ceremony on the deck overlooking the terrace pool (back of ship). He was great.

They DID mess up our cake (horribly) but they made it right in the end. The ceremony was beautiful, as were the flowers. Even with the things that went wrong (we had plenty) it was still the wedding we imagined and the start of a wonderful marriage. (And a great honeymoon cruise) I won't tell you horror stories, because in the end, most of the things that went wrong don't matter much to me now. We have lovely memories of a week onboard the CB with our family and friends.

Congratulations to all the upcoming brides!
