ssramage Posted August 23, 2022 #1 Share Posted August 23, 2022 Hi, new member here! My wife and I have booked a cruise as our kids (ages 9, 5, 4) Christmas present this year. We're leaving Port Canaveral on 12/17 aboard the Escape and coming back on 12/24. Ports of call include Puerto Plata DR, St. Thomas, Tortola, and Great Stirrup Cay. We have not visited any of these ports of call in the past and this will be our first NCL cruise. What excursions would you 100% recommend with our kids? For the ports where we don't do excursions, what activities would you recommend? Thanks for any help!
NYMama Posted August 23, 2022 #2 Share Posted August 23, 2022 The ports of call have their own message boards. You could probably find more helpful information on the boards for each specific port. Puerto Plata has Ocean World and Monkeyland. You can find YouTube videos that show experiences at both locations. They both seem to be young child friendly excursions. At Monkeyland the squirrel monkeys will actually crawl on you though, if that is not your thing. Great Stirrup Cay is the Norwegian Private Island. Best bet with young kids is probably just a free beach day. But they do have a swim with the pigs excursion and a sting ray excursion. St. Thomas and Tortola are known for beaches. Not sure if snorkeling would be your thing with a 4 and 5 year old but something to look into.
2boyzmom Posted August 23, 2022 #3 Share Posted August 23, 2022 Depends on what you want. We have done Tortola and St. Thomas multiple times. If you are on a budget , rent a minivan and do your own self guided tour and save a ton of $$. We did that when the boys were young.
