Miracle and bringing alcohol on board

Recommended Posts

We're going on Miracle out of NYC on 6/26. Wondering what the current situation in on bringing alcohol on board? A rep at Carnival told me over the phone that you are allowed to bring only one bottle of wine on board...and it is confiscated and held until you choose to drink it in the dining room, in which you must pay a corkage fee. Ideally, we'd like to bring wine, a few beers, and maybe one water bottle with hard liquor (vodka, as we've read on the boards). Nothing extravagant, as we do want to spend time in the lounges and bars, but it would be nice to have a glass of wine or a beer before dinner on our balcony.
Just curious what others have done, what's passable, etc.
Thanks!!!!

There doesn't seem to be any problem taking alcohol on board as long as it is in your checked luggage. We took beer and soda and had no problems at all. The steward then kept it iced for us all week long. Of course....we tipped him well!!!

I know you are allowed a bottle of wine, and that there is a corkage fee if you CHOOSE to drink it in the dining room. I have never heard of HAVING to drink it in the dining room.

As for other booze, as jfritz said, put it in your checked luggage and you won't have any problems.

We'll be on the same cruise. We haven't found too many others who will be sailing with us.

According to the FAQ's on Carnival's website, you can bring a few bottles of wine on board to drink in your room...and if you choose to bring it to the dining room, there is a corkage fee. I should add that on the Adventure of the Seas (RCCL) last year, the corkage fee never actually apeared on our bill.

You can bring it, just put it in your checked luggage. We brought a fifth of Jack Daniels and two pints of rum, and put it in ziploc bags, along with padding of paper towel in between the bottles and bag. Unfortunately, they were glass bottles, so I had to take the extra precaution. Of course, you can get plastic bottles, too. That's even easier.

Everything arrived safe and sound, and it was great! Also brought two 12-pks. of soda on board with us, and that wasn't a problem, either.

I took a small rolling cooler on the Miracle in April. We carried it on and it went through the X-ray machine. They did ask what I had in there and I told them (just bottled water) but they never inspected it at all.

Ari & Jacqui, We'll be on the same cruise 6/26 & I'll have wine packed in our checked luggage, enclosed in 2 gallon ziploc bags just to be sure it doesn't break.
Valentina, We were also on a Home Lines ship, the "Homeric", in the 80's.
See all of you onboard.
