Suggestion for night before cruise out of Tampa?

We are going on a four night cruise to cozumel out of tampa. We are planning on driving down the night before and staying somewhere but would like some suggestions. Should we stay in a marriott or someplace nice in Tampa or St Petersburg beach? Does someone here have any suggestions for a nice day before? We would probably be getting there supper time so it wouldn't be a whole day but it would be fun to stay at a nice hotel with a pool and see some sites. Thanks for any advice.

DH and I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott in downtown Tampa. It was good for the price ($89/nite). They also had a free shuttle to the port which was about 5 minutes away. There really wasn't a lot to do and see around there though.

The aquarium seems to be a popular spot to visit pre/post cruise.

Hello,

We cruised out of Tampa before and stayed at the Wyhamm harbour Island Resort hotel. They have a free shuttle to and from the airport. They also dropped us at the cruise terminal for free. I just tipped the driver. There is a cable car that will take you down to Ebor City which is a great place to go out dancing or to dinner. I want to say the fare was 1.50 one way. Also close to the cruise ternimal there was a small mall that had a restaurant in it call the Supper Club. It had great Southern food and live music. You can walk to the mall from the hotel or catch the cable car. Oh yeah the hotel is on the international water way so there's a nice view and about 10 minute if that trip to the cruise terminal.

Hope that helps you out! Either way check out Ebor City or the Supper Club restaurant.
