MykeN Posted March 4, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 4, 2006  We are cruising April 7 on Brilliance and we are planning on taking one of our laptops. Is it better to have the internet in your cabin or just use the wireless hotspots on board? We will mainly be checking and sending e-mail to keep in touch with freinds looking after our high needs child. It will be only used a short time each day. Any advice appreciated Myke
cmich068 Posted March 4, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 4, 2006 if it's only a short time each day, either buy a chunk of time or pay by the minute. don't bother getting the unlimited in your room, not worth it. Type your emails offline, and then connect to send them. Save some money.
madforcruising Posted March 4, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 4, 2006 I would do the simple math once on board and figure out how much the unlimited is and how much time you would get for the same amount on the wireless. Then it´s an easy decision how long you plan to be online a day and what option would be cheaper. The unlimited in room Internet is very slow and therefore it´s great that it´s a flat rate for unlimited access so you won´t have to worry how long it takes. I have no experience with the wireless but others here said it´s much faster.
