do we put princess tags on bags now?

I put mine on before I left the house. The airlines know those are cruise tags and they don't get ripped off in case your luggage gets lost. Those tags will make sure the airline delivers the luggage to the ship at the first port if it does get lost.

I put mine on before I fly.

Should they get ripped off, Princess has supplied enough that I can put another on.

Makes me think my bags might get there! (Only ever had one bag not make it to the ship - another cruise line - and it caught up to us next port.)

We have always put ours on before we leave home. Never had one tear off. In fact, they're pretty dang hard to get off unless they're the ones with the rubber band like that you loop the tag through.

If you are worried about tags being taken off, or your bags being misdirected, the easiest thing to do is put them on when you claim your luggage at the airport. Everyone must claim their own luggage upon arrival in the port city. Carry your Princess tags with you and put them as you claim your luggage at the bagagge claim before Princess handles them. We always go in the day before and so put our tags on at the hotel the night before the cruise.

We did the same thing on our only fly/cruise.

I normally would wait to do it once we arrived at the port city. But as others say, if you put them on before the flight and if the bag gets lost, at least the airline will have an idea what to do with it when they find it. Princess sent us enough tags that we put 2 tags on each bag anyway, in case one got ripped off at the pier.

The other thing you can do is make up your own name tags with the cruise info on them and clip them to your luggage. Or type out a normal size piece of paper with the cruise info and put it inside the suitcase on top of everything, so it can be seen by the airline personnel who find it on the other side of the country.

If I recall, the instructions specifically say NOT to put them on until after your flight.

Also, call me paranoid, but I'd think a tag from a cruise would make your bag a target for thieves. Cruise = alot of expensive stuff!
