Another dolphin encounter question

If we booked directly through the Dolpin Encounter place - how far of a cab ride is it from the port to the ferry terminal? Also if you try to get in the 8:30am session - does that mean the ferry leaves the terminal at 8:30am or you have to be on the island at 8:30am?
