Suede Posted March 5, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 5, 2006 Will be in St. Thomas on Carnival Glory May 2, leaving this port at 8:00, does anyone know what time they want you back on the ship? Thanks,
tef43 Posted March 5, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 5, 2006 You *must* be on board no later than 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure time.
Cuizer2 Posted March 6, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 6, 2006 I'll be on that cruise also. The cruise lines always want the passengers back on board 30 minutes prior to the departure time.
gfsmith Posted March 6, 2006 #4 Share Posted March 6, 2006 It never fails there is always someone racing down the pier to make the boat...........lol
suncoastgirl Posted March 6, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 6, 2006 True, that reminds me of our last cruise. In Ocho Rios, Jamacia there was a guy running down the pier to "catch" the ship. Everyone was hanging over their balconies screaming "Run, Forest, Run!" Boy was that guy embarassed.
LizaMM Posted March 6, 2006 #6 Share Posted March 6, 2006 It never fails there is always someone racing down the pier to make the boat...........lol On my last cruise on the Glory there were people who were running down the pier waving their arms and yelling as the ship was already sailing away....I head read reports of what happened next here on CC.....the pilot boat went back and retrieved them and brought them to the ship. I watched this all from my balcony. I have a few photos of this if you want to take a look click my photo link below and they are in the album called Carnival Glory Cruise - Wednesday (Costa Maya). I heard that this had happened the day before in Belize as well although I did not witness it. Oy!! Moral of the story....the return to the ship time is posted in the Capers as well as announced....pay attention to it....pay attention to ship time vs port time.....to not mess around with this!!! Be on time :D
rubato Posted March 6, 2006 #7 Share Posted March 6, 2006 About 12 years ago, I was one of those people running down the pier. I got lost shopping in San Juan, spoke no Spanish, and had to ride the city bus with a driver who spoke no English. My hubby and I made it to the ship with about 1 minute to spare after traveling all over the city in the wrong direction! Needless to say, I'm always back extra early now, and, unless I'm on an excursion, I don't stray very far!:)
