Nile Cruise

Hi we have booked a nile cruise for January 2023.  We fully expect it to be very different from other cruises we have taken but I am a bit at a loss of what is considered appropriate attire, both onboard and on the various trips. Also what sort of entertainment will be onboard and what to wear for that. If anyone could give us an idea of what to expect we would be very grateful.

Which cruise line did you book? Perhaps those who have sailed on that line can provide firsthand knowledge of attire on board their cruises.

We had a fabulous time on the Nile with Uniworld back in January 2017. Casual attire every night was the norm, a bit more casual than European cruises perhaps. One night we were invited to buy fairly inexpensive Egyptian galabias or caftans for a special dinner plus local dancers.  On excursions, I often wore short sleeved blouses when it was warm, in case you’re wondering about expected attire in a Muslim country. Western style attire was prevalent in Cairo and Luxor; more conservative clothes in smaller villages. But tourists were welcome whatever we were wearing!

If you search 'Visit with Us' on the Tube, they have posted 3 videos recently of their Uniworld Nile cruise. In one  they show entertainment and evenings onboard. You can get an idea of what passengers wear.
