Gaurantee? What's best??

OK..Advice time, Please...(I've dished out plenty of it..now it's my turn to ask);)

My Sweetie and I are thinking about doing a 'quick-cheap-get-away' cruise out of Galveston next month..we can drive there. I found a 4-day pretty reasonable..(Galveston, at sea, Cozumel, at sea, Galveston).:D

Here's my question..the only way we can really do this is to do the 'Gaurantee inside' I had one person tell me 'Wait till the last minute to pay in full..you'll get a better cabin' and another say 'Pay asap, so they give you a good cabin' ...:confused: ...(what the...)

So in you opinion/experence which is best??? HELP??

('Big' cruise this summer to Alaska..so, if I can get my way, and we go on this one..it has to be done 'on a budget'):p Thanks!!! -Kandy
