Rare morpheusofthesea Posted December 31, 2022 Author #126 Share Posted December 31, 2022 Another unannounced treat is happening this noon. A second seafood extravaganza on the One Pool deck. And have not heard of any 'big wigs' on board this sailing either.

When we were on Seaview in the Med, we never noticed a seafood extravaganza, but it was very port heavy. We'll be on Divina soon, so hoping to catch it. Is it generally on a sea day or a port day? Are you able to store your luggage underneath the bed? Given what seems to be an astonishingly small area for storage that is provided, it seems like using our suitcases as daily storage areas might be the way to solve the problem. As you can probably tell, this will be our first time in a YCI cabin. I know this has already been stated, but a visual always help. Here is our two standard checked luggage cases comfortably under the bed in our YIN, 19038. There is plenty of space to fit at least two more cases under there if needed. Would have put this up sooner, but I try to restrict how much phone/internet I use during a cruise. Hope it helps! 1

Rare morpheusofthesea Posted December 31, 2022 Author #133 Share Posted December 31, 2022 This is interesting. Earlier, after hearing about this noon's seafood extravaganza we witnessed the pool attendant ask a large group sunning themselves on the YC sundeck for identification and all 10 he asked to leave. One of the 'gentlemen' offered the pool attendant money to stay. He backed away. We felt bad (for the pool attendant). DW tells me to tip him more. He confides that he can generally tell if someone belongs in the YC. Those outside YC are generally disrespectful of themselves and others. When they sneak into the YC they do not respect the rules and smoke where they please. He says YC guests respect each other and follow rules. Been on inside cabins for 50 years on many other now scrapped ships and they had room under the beds except the Independence/ Constitution which didn't have room for us (2 bunkbeds). The steward said he would store our luggage for us. It was either upgrade or DW was on next flight home. Thank goodness they had a just ONE category upgrade for $300 more available. I apologize. It was this part of your post #100 that led me to believe you were in an inside Astonished to see the Captain's quarters and how small it was compared to our inside cabin. Ours had a shower and toilet.
Oldsweets Posted December 31, 2022 #136 Share Posted December 31, 2022 I have found all of your review most interesting and certainly appreciate your sharing. This will only be our second YC and while it was a gift from the Casino I am even more impressed by your 7 bottles or liquor. Either your one heck of a tipper, cruise YC a lot, or both. IMPRESSIVE

Ours had a shower and toilet. Yes. Back then, 1991 we were always on inside cabins two lower beds were the most reasonable cabins on cruise ships. It wasn't until 2018 that we began booking suites. We recommend young cruisers always book the most reasonable inside cabins midship. Judging from your rugged charismatic profile I would admonish you to only be in suites from now on.

Rare morpheusofthesea Posted January 1, 2023 Author #139 Share Posted January 1, 2023 (edited) Tonight’s Chora Theatre production was “Boys Band Evolution” a different set of songs. More Motown and doo-wop with many more dance steps. From there the Loft Cafe offered a very good jazz quartet. New Year’s Eve party begins at 10 pm all over the ship. Yacht Club high Tea lasted til 5:10 satisfying every guest in the YC restaurant. Then a quick prep for 5:30 opening for dinner. As expected very light turnout as everyone was full from tea time. Found this bottle chilling when we returned to our cabin. P.S. Happy New Year Everyone ! Edited January 1, 2023 by morpheusofthesea p.s.

Rare morpheusofthesea Posted January 1, 2023 Author #142 Share Posted January 1, 2023 This is a common problem on any ship or hotel. This photo was taken this morning before our cabin steward comes on duty of our neighbor. One would expect seeing this outside the Yacht Club but not inside. The proper etiquette can be found : (As if YC suites are not big enough). "Yes, you leave them in your cabin. There will be a note with your order delivery asking you to do that and to not leave them in the hall. It is a big safety hazard as well as being unsightly for Carnival to want them on the floor!!! Can you imagine if there is an emergency and people and rescue crew are trying to rush down a hallway full of dirty dishes. I'm surprised the safety inspections even allow that practice" oakridger Right Answer on Holland America.

Is not Yacht Club still in the practice of providing overnight butler coverage? It is my understanding the butlers take turns covering that shift. Assuming the practice is still extant, why would the overnight butler not be checking the hallways periodically? If I see something like this during our March cruise, management will be called out on it. It's Yacht Club, not a floating Best Western.

We get the sense that the same problems that plagued the startup of the Seaside are repeating themselves on the startup of the Seascape. We witnessed a staff member walk right by us and this tray on the floor, as if saying 'it's not my job'. It should be every staff members job to correct anything they see 'out of place'. Perhaps MSC is growing too fast or the people are being promoted too early in their career.

Rare morpheusofthesea Posted January 1, 2023 Author #147 Share Posted January 1, 2023 Here is a 12 second video of the UNLOCKED door on deck 19 entrance to the Yacht club. The 2 second shot is the 'gutted' lock. Perhaps someone would be good enough to forward these photos to MSC corporate. This morning on deck 8 we saw an officer taking pictures of the ship and we brought this security problem to his attention. He got on his phone and called someone and asked to be updated. We can do no more. IMG_2645.m4v IMG_2643.m4v
Rare morpheusofthesea Posted January 1, 2023 Author #148 Share Posted January 1, 2023 We recommend that the first thing one does when they board this ship... remember the words of Thorton Melon " Bring us a pitcher of beer every 7 minutes until somebody passes out. We are familiar with Thornton's. Edited January 1, 2023 by no1talks
