Hello:

My husband & I will be sailing on Celebrity Beyond in January 2023.  We are interested in two tours but not sure which one to select.

For those of you that have done these tours, could you please provide pros/cons.

Many thanks and happy cruising!

Puerto Plata and Cable Car Experience

Overview

  • Get acquainted with Puerto Plata's rich history and Victorian architecture at Fortaleza San Felipe and Parque Independencia after enjoying a cable car ride from the highest point on the North Coast, Mount Isabela de Torres.

Highlights

  • Ride a cable car down Pico Isabel de Torres Mountain, high above the lush forest, with stunning views of the Dominican Republic.
  • Drive to the grounds of Fortaleza San Felipe, a Spanish fortress built in the 16th century to defend the northern coast in part from pirates seeking gold and silver, where your guide shares historical details and takes photos.
  • Make your way to Parque Independencia to learn about the historic figures of the restoration period and see Victorian architecture and the famous cathedral.
  • At 2,555 feet above sea-level, enjoy a guided stroll among the beautiful gardens to see a representation of a typical countryside house or "casa tipica" and take photos of the Christ the Redeemer Statue.
  • Continue your drive with some photo stops along the Malecón, a thriving boardwalk along the Atlantic.
