Rare OceanCruise Posted March 7, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 7, 2006 Just got my Time magazine in the mail today and there is an article about cruise safety and the congressional investigation. The article indicates that cruiselines are covering up crimes and are settling/paying victims to keep quiet.
cruzinjr Posted March 7, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 7, 2006 Seems to be the hot topic of the day! There was a segment on the Today show this morning when I got home from work...didn't see it all and barely paid attention to it (as I will be going on my 1st cruise 02/07 and didn't feel like hearing horror stories that early in the morning) Guess Congress is supposed to be trying to pass some legislation regarding cruis safety against crimes. And what with all the recent publicity (esp the George Smith incident) it's coming out of the woodwork. I think my major concern with the "Today" story was that a 15 yo girl was on a family reunion cruise, apparently was in one of the cruise ship's bars, managed to order 12 drinks, put them on her Sea card, then proceeded to get ick on deck and while throwing up, fell? overeboard....No the cruise line isn't exactly negligent for her falling over, but the underage drinking which did or did not result in her fall... Would love to see the article, will have to look it up online or just go out and by Time. -Jennifer
