Steveok Posted March 7, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 7, 2006 Just back from Serenade (our 2nd S. Caribbean on Serenade). We booked Empress of the Seas 11 day next Jan while we were on board. Has anyone been on board the Empress since she was refitted? Obviously smaller but other than that can anyone compare the two ships for me? Thanks
seahags Posted March 7, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 7, 2006 we've been on the Serenade twice (Alaska and Panama Canal Transit), and on the Empress last March for a three-day...will be on her again this April for 8 night repo to Philadelphia and again next April for 12 nights. They really aren't comparable...she is a much older ship than the Serenade, has been nicely retrofitted, but cabins are very tiny in comparision, there is no concierge lounge, everything is on a much smaller scale. That being said, the crew has always been friendly and the service good...sailing anywhere is better than being home(!). The Serenade is a far newer ship with lots more glass and more "creature" comforts... Enjoy yourselves... :)
cyscopup Posted March 7, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 7, 2006 Steve-- We have never been on Serenade but as you can see below we have been on several other RCCl ships including Radiance and Voyager and we think Empress is the best we have been on. In facdt while we were on Monarch this past weekend we boked back 2 back 2 back on Empress this coming December. There is nothing like sailing on Christmas and New Years.
