Poker Tournament?

I have seen that some of you have planned to have week-long activities for your cruising guests. One of those a poker tournament.... how are you organizing this? Are you bringing your own chips/cards? Or setting it up somehow with the cruiseline?

We brought our own chips. But we got cards from the ship. We basically pushed a couple of tables together in the card room (called the Game Reserve on the Jewel of the Seas). We didn't need to reserve the spot or anything as it was open most of the time. The bar was just outside -- for those who went all-in early in the game.

I'm one of the brides planning the poker tourney (well FI is). We're including invites to the tournament in welcome bags and FI is going to recruit people at dinner on the first night.

 

We are bringing chips and cards along with some of our bridal party. We're most likely going to play in one of the public areas, although a couple people have suites so we may have the tourney in some of those rooms. We will set a time limit of 3 hours.

One of our OOT favors is personalized cards, so all the guests will already have those. We're bringing our own chips. Originally my TA was going to be arranging to reserve the game room for us, but one of my family members has rented out a villa on the ship so we're now just going to have it at their dining table. I would ask your TA, or maybe contact the cruiseline's group or special event coordinator. As for letting our guest know...we're just giving them an itinerary of when/where/what my fi and I will be doing and they can choose to join if they want to or not. (My family loves poker, but his family is anti gambling--even with fake money..so we're pretty sure it'll be more my fam there than his!)
