Jay Bee Posted January 20, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 20, 2023 I've read that getting an Uber/Lyft from a Galveston hotel to the port on embarkation day can be difficult, maybe with a long wait or even no driver picking up the ride. We reserved an Uber XL because we have 4 adults and 2 kids, and I'm concerned that the larger cars may be in short supply. Would it be safer to reserve 2 regular-size cars? And just because a reservation is made doesn't mean the ride is guaranteed. Even though we're only 2 miles from the port, it's too far to walk if we get stuck. Then there's the fact that with RCL's new terminal, the number of passengers wanting rides is going to be a lot higher than before. I'm hoping the supply of drivers has increased since coming out of the pandemic. Anybody have any experience with this?
Galveston Cruiser Posted January 22, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 22, 2023 Uber is not permitted in the cruise port area. TNC's (transportation network companies) must pay a fee to enter; Uber does not remit the fee. Lyft does.
