Carnival Venezia August 31st - September 8, 2023 Roll Call!

Recommended Posts

Still so quiet well just 24 more days. Everything is booked or bought just waiting to drop the clothes into the one checked bag add the cpap to hubby's carry on and packing complete. Still have 10 days to go before we can select a check in time and print our docs. But that's it for items needed as far as docs are concerned. Passports, vax cards (no longer needed but in passport pack), prescription lists from pharmacy, all bundles together to go into my purse morning of the 30th. We leave for Boston at 5:00AM to catch train to NYC.

Well have a good week everybody, Laura

Hello Fellow Cruisers,

This will be my 2nd cruise on Venezia.  I sailed on their July 4th itinerary.  Looking forward to my next adventure.  I really liked the ship.  Specialty restaurants are limited.  Pools are small.  I only went in after dark when kids and youngsters were elsewhere. But overall what a good time. Really liked the entertainment on deck 5 lounge.

See you all soon

Replying again to update my signature to include my Venezia cruise from June/July.  One of the first 5 cruises from NY for this ship.  They are learning and eager to please. But I will warn you debarkation was a nightmare...

Enjoy every cruise ever. Happy cruising

KJ

Welcome so good to have somebody who has sailed already on our roll call. The site is quiet but maybe so close it will pick up. Now with personal knowledge how was it getting on and off the ship? Did you go to the buffet waiting for your cabin or board later so could go put things away then head out?

Looking forward to this ship, important to make good memories for hubby. We couldn't go to Venice this year so grabbed this ship. Getting excited.

Take care, Laura

Three more weeks, next week we log into our Carnival account and get our check in time. After that we will check out the Intrepid, not sure if we need to pre book tickets plus want to check the extended forecast for NYC. If it will be raining can't do much because I can't get my Inogen wet and can't cover it because the vents need to be kept open and clear. I can use an umbrella but I know how hard it is to walk a busy city street with this, will have no choice when we walk to the port but we shall see what it is like the 30th. & 31st.

Have a good day folks stay safe, Laura

Hi LateBloomer,

Embarkation was a breeze. Debarkation was literally a nightmare.  They had all the Diamond/VIPs go to an auditorium but failed to come back and tell us when to get off the ship.  It took hours with no organization.

When I boarded I went straight to my room. Luckily mine was all set up with Welcome gifts already.  Apparently a lot of others had to wait to get access to their cabins. Muster was just a check in basically.

Specialty restaurants are limited. I went to Chops twice if not 3x. Service and food were excellent. The MDR sea day brunch service needs improvement. Dinner service in the MDR was acceptable. All the staff is eager to please. Very nice. Absolutely doing their best.

It's a new home port with new itineraries.  I'm sure it will improve exponentially.

The ship is nicely laid out and I am looking forward to returning. Wish we had better ports but it is what you make it.

Thanks, we are sailing for the ship could only get a balcony cabin. Hubby didn't want a cabin in Terraza on deck 5 I think was worried about the foot traffic. Saw great videos and wish I grabbed this six months ago, oh well. We have two must haves a sofa and a balcony I will be all set. We didn't book any specialty dining on this ship was waiting until it sailed on this coast for a while.

We have sailed out of Manhattan twice before but on a different cruise line but didn't have any issues. Guess it's the ship not the terminal. Each trip is different so we shall have to wait and see. We have about four hours to get to the train, if we miss it will go later.

We booked excursions, I changed what we started with not sure about the Amber Cove one its in the afternoon with the heat like to be back on the ship by 12-1:00. We shall see, Grand Turk we return by 10:30 good for me I'm a morning person.

Looking forward to trying some new foods and some food we have had but prepared differently.

Take care, Laura

Happy sunny Sunday, well we are in the teens. Next week we get our check in time. Waiting to request late check out at the hotel that morning, though 11:00 may be fine. Worse case is we leave the bags there and go out for a few hours no Pont in adding to the lines if we get a later check in time, no rush to hang out waiting for our cabin after 1:30. No FTTF for this cruise and any sail twice before years ago so no loyalty points. Understand can't drop bags so will have a couple roll ones, big bag gets checked.

Well 4 more days and I will have a better plan.

Stay safe, Laura

Extended forecast has rain Aug.30-31 😢. Hope like New England this will change just wait a minute.

Well I will be prepared so no worries just won't be able to do the Intrepid again. Think maybe we will look at booking hotel on the 8th. Just change train to the 9th. car service would be happy as we wouldn't be arriving during rush hour in Boston. Though he is very good with the traffic.

Now who is still with us, I have the list of those who posted here but this has been a quiet board.

Hope to see everybody in 17 days.

All checked in have 11:00-11:30, way to early for me but check out is 11:00 unless we can get late check out on the 31st. then will go to the port after lunch time. Only need to add our passport numbers but the system was down again. That's fine will try again later forgot this line doesn't have this info on record so figured just add later.

Well two more weeks finally. Stay safe, Laura

Hello there! I'm on this cruise!

Super late to the party - booked as a free cruise through casino match, going to be in a cove balcony (and very excited for that!). I'm 27F, traveling with my aunt. First vacation as just the two of us, so that should be interesting - we previously went on a family cruise as about 10 of us in 2017 I think?

No excursions planned at this time, we're looking to just lay on the beach, be in a pool, etc. Might still book something, but it's not a priority. Taking it very low key. I like sea days with just lounging, drinking, eating, playing cards, and leaving out of NYC was probably my biggest priority.

We live in NJ (about 1-1.5 hours with a bit of traffic), and I normally drive my parents to the port to sail on NCL (they go to Bermuda out of NYC 2x per year) so I'm very familiar with driving in, but I don't particularly want to park at the port... just an expense I haven't planned for, it's just as much as the cheers package! Might look into the EWR transport to the port if we can get in on that, it's just that much easier to get to the airport via public transportation if we have to.

Just a few more days! Going to start getting my stuff together today. Need to coordinate everything we are bringing. We basically just started planning.... this week.... been booked for a LONG time.

Hi Everyone,

10 Days woohooo!!!

I snagged the 11am - 11:30 check in time.  Is everyone as excited as I am?  For those who use Facebook, we have a Venezia 8/31 - 9/8 group if you would like to join.  Also on that page, you can sign up for different events such a slot pull, meet and greet etc. 🙂

Great I saw something was told to go to events? Wondered why this board was so quiet, do you think most folks are on FB?

I will be on this cruise with 3 of my girlfriends.  A little getaway without hubbies or kids!  So looking forward to it.  We have the 11-11:30 boarding time.  Anybody else doing a girls trip?

Welcome aboard, we are finally in single digits. We have the same check in time because our hotel check out is 11:00 and only a few minutes from the pier. Looking forward to cruising on this ship.

Have a great week, Laura

Sorry in advance if someone has mentioned a meet and greet. ive not read through the entire thread. Anyone interested in a $5 pp slot pull meet and greet in the casino? Split the winnings

Nobody set up a meet and greet the person who started the roll call said FB has events. I love slot pulls but they have way to many people who are attending.

Anybody on this roll call want to meet up next week, I do and sweet November is looking? We have some groups on here any thoughts on when and where?

Thank

Just 4 more days until we sail. The trip now had a port change but watching forecasts and don't see this happening to us, unless the storms coming up the coast are a factor. Not keen on going north so hoping all is well come Thursday.

Have a good weekend maybe we will see some of you soon, Laura

Ugh, I am a bit nervous as now it is two storms that are circulating.  Do you think we will have any change in ports?  I am most nervous about possible rough seas. I get pretty sick and taking my 3 year old on her first cruise who also suffers from motion sickness.  I have bands and dramamine and ear patches .... crossing my fingers that we miss them!
