Gift cards

Not sure exactly what you're asking but generally the procedure aboard HAL is all onboard purchases are charged to your cabin and then you can apply GC at guest services to pay that off.  I don't think you can walk up to the shops and use a gift card, if that's what you mean.

You can take the gift card to Guest Services and have it applied to your account once on board if you like. As others have suggested, you can also use it to purchase the OBC in advance and accomplish the same thing. The advantage to doing it in advance is that you don't have to register a credit card if you have sufficient OBC purchased in advance.

Can I use OBC bought with a gift card to pay my daily service charge?

I know I can't prepay the service charge online in advance using gift cards.

"Travel Planning items are purchased in the currency of your original booking. Gift cards cannot be applied towards Travel Planning items."

FYI You can buy 10% discounted gift cards at AARP.org under Rewards.

Yes, we did that in Dec on our NS cruise for the 3rd person in our cabin.  At the service desk, I applied two $100 HAL cards we bought through AARP.  They auto pulled the gratuitous for our 3rd from our OBC account.
