Port of Nassau and Snorkeling Questions

We are cruising for the first time on Saturday and have a couple of questions...

 

Once in port in Nassau, is anything within walking distance? Public beaches, shops, etc?

 

We possibly made the mistake of booking a shore excursion through Carnival, called the "Catamaran Snorkel." Is this trip worth it? Do we have to worry about the snorkel not being sanitized?

 

I apologize of those are ridiculous questions...

hi,

but equipment is pretty reasonable so I would suggest buying your own.

atleast the mask and snorkel tube, but make sure u get purges in both, and use their fins and vests if u don't snorkel enough 2 buy your own.

Within walking distance are many historical buildings, the straw market for souviner shopping, Pirate Museum (If you are interested), Queen's staircase and Ft. Fincastle.

 

My husband and 15 y/o daughter took Carnival's stingray and snorkel encounter on Pearl Island and LOVED it! Lots of interesting tidbits about what star owns what houses, etc. and good snorkeling. We think Carnival's excursions are worth the money because you can RELAX and not worry about getting back in time!
