Southampton taxi with paying with card or need cash / short trip options with scooter?

I am wondering if we grab a taxi to the mall / center if we can pay with card or do we need cash (Pounds)?

 

I am also wondering if there is a an alternative to do for us then shopping.

My travel partner have a (fold up) small scooter so a lot of excursions are a no.

Most Southampton taxis accept cards.

Possibly all of them, but check with the driver first.

I doubt any would accept any currency other than GBP

 

Whether its possible to use a scooter depends on your cruise terminal - City Cruise Terminal (berth 101) is about 3/4 of a mile from the big West Quay Shopping Mall, and the traditional main shopping street at the other end of the mall. All shops etc accept cards.

This part of Southampton is mainly flat, shops are wheelchair friendly and there are elevators in the Mall.

 

Horizon Cruise Terminal is a further 1/4 mile, I'm fairly sure other cruise terminals are too far for the physical effort (manual) or battery life (electric).

Some taxis are van-shaped & capable of carrying a scooter.

Others are sedans - you'll know whether they're suitable for that scooter.
