No, but Jamaica is not known for good diving. Overfishing and little environmental care did not help. Many other Carribean locations provide good diving, but not Jamaica.
Pretty much agree with this opinion, although I have seen some decent photos from there, so it is possible to dive at least a couple of sights that don't suck. Overall, I never need to visit Jamaica and won't go on a cruise with a stop there. If you are stuck going there, check both http://www.scubaboard.com and the D2D message board on http://www.scubadiving.com. On the D2D board, looking in the trip report section and try a search before you post a question, the regulars appreciate it when people do that.

Obviously the previous replies were from folks who have never been diving in Jamaican waters.

As a divemaster with many dives in the Negril area of western jamaica I want to say that there are many good dives to be found.

We've dived there for many years and the reefs are making a good recovery. In fact after diving in Grand Cayman, St. Lucia,

Barbados ,Cozumel and elsewhere in the carib area ,Jamaica holds it's own.

In fact the reefs are in better shape than some of the previously mentioned ones.Don't let others discourage you from diving due to their unfamiliarity with the conditions.

In fact we will be making another trip in a few weeks .

BTW we live in FL where there is some great reef diving in the FL keys and we still like JA for a change.:) :)
