California Dreamer Posted February 26, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 26, 2023 Hi! We haven’t docked in Livorno before. How can we get to Lucca using the train? Also, what is the best things to see there? We have been to Florence, Piza, Cinque Terre and want to see something different! Thanks for your help! Rare carlmm Posted February 26, 2023 #2 Share Posted February 26, 2023 I guess you know how to get to the train station as you have visited all these other places? You have to connect trains in Pisa, otherwise it is straight forward. You should check the timing on the trenitalia site as the trains to Lucca are not frequent all day long. We once missed a train in Livorno and would have had to wait quite long in Pisa. Well, the taxi was about € 90 Pisa -Lucca.
Rare carlmm Posted February 26, 2023 #3 Share Posted February 26, 2023 Lucca is famous for its broad walls. IMHO nice but the old town itself is much niecer. Hard to recommend something specific, there are an abundance of churches and m8nasteries worth a visit, a few museums and all the streets and squares. euro cruiser Posted February 27, 2023 #4 Share Posted February 27, 2023 As noted above, the hardest part is getting to the train station in Livorno. Once there it's pretty easy to get to Lucca. One regional train to Pisa Centrale, switch there for another regional to Lucca. Most connection take around one hour. At Lucca the entrance to town is just across the piazza from the station and everything is close, all walkable distance.
barneyboy Posted March 2, 2023 #5 Share Posted March 2, 2023 We’re planning on going with Tuscany Bus. The bus stop is just by where the ship shuttle drops you. You can book online. We thought this would be easier than the train.
