Curbside luggage check?

DH and I will be leaving for our 1st cruise in 6 days. :D I've learned so much from these boards, I can't thank everyone enough!!

 

A last minute question, though: Should we check our luggage with the curbside porter at the airport, or take it to the ticket counter ourselves? I've read advice for both. On the one hand I've read that something close to 80% of lost luggage was checked curbside. On the other hand, someone posted that it's faster to get through all the post-9/11 security if you give your luggage to curbside check.

 

What do all the wise CCers think we should do? :confused:

I check my luggage curbside every time I can. Be SURE to give the guys a tip, usually about $2 or more per bag. I do $5 for 2 bags. I have never had luggage get lost when doing this.

Depends..Take a peak inside and see how long the line is. I love curbside but lthe last time we flew the line outside was longgg, and inside, short! :p

We like to do online check-in at home to get our boarding passes, then curbside luggage check-in.

We also like to use curb side check in whenever possible. Airports now charge $2 per bag for this service. This is not including the tip.

i use curbside check in and i tip per bag and i stand to the side and watch til my bags are brought inside- and if the bag backup isnt too bad i will watch them check my bags

It depends on how long the line is for me. I also remember to tip the porter.
