If I buy the social media package would I be able to send messages to other family members not sailing with using Facebook Messenger? We have I-Phones. I want to check in once in a while. We have a huge family plan with T-Mobile and I don't think they have coverage in the Bahamas. I don't want to end up with unexpected charges on my phone bill.

The social media plan is exactly what you are looking for. You will be able to send messages to anyone using Facebook messenger.

Yes....the social media plan will give you access to FB Messenger.  Just put your phone on airplane mode to disconnect from the cellular connection and re-enable wifi.

If you all have iphones than they will go through as imessages.  We found that out wilth our kids who only had the social plan.  We had the value.  All our regular texts went through as long as everyone had an iphone.  No need for messenger or Whats app.
