I only gamble about $50 a night on slots with minimum bets on each machine (I budget $400 per cruise for gambling).  I only get inside offers on Princess but upgrading to a balcony or a mini suite is usually inexpensive.

 

Get much better offers through HAL (same budget) but can't get the shareholder's OBC on them.

Actually, on the Emerald, the dealer had a console they used to enter your buy in, and track your time played. What I'm wondering is whether anyone has a feel for x buy in for y hours equals z points.

I've worked in the casino industry in vegas for many years. How we do it is by how long you play, avg bet, and which kijd of bets you make. Buy-ins don't matter anymore. I could buy in for $100 and you can buy in for $10,000 we get rated the same if we're making the same bets. Most casinos actually have seperate colums for each type of bet. For example, If you're playing blackjack and you are betting $25 on the bj bet and $10 on the side bet. Generally you will make more points on the $10 side bet. Reason being the odds are much worse on the side bets vs normal bj bet.

So, I guess the question is why would they enter my buy in? Amd who's keeping track of bets? They only seem to have 1-2 pit bosses for all table games, and they don't appear to be watching actual play much.

Buyins are mainly to track thresholds (anti-money laundering)+ win/loss. The floorperson will usually go off your first three bets. Then change the avg accordingly. In vegas we have to watch 8 games per section (unless craps then it's only 2). Obviously they cannot watch every single bet so they go off of what they see and they'll ask the dealer as well. 9/10 if you're a cool person taking care of the dealers they will bump up your avg. Another tip is at the end of your play right after you color up, walk over to the side and ask what your avg bet was. If he gives you an answer that doesn't satisfy you then ask for more. Being polite and tipping goes a long way. Especially on cruise ships where most of the supervisors are dual rate. Which means they both supervise and deal.
