terisu10 Posted June 28, 2004 #106 Share Posted June 28, 2004 Well, I am cruising saturday! Carnival Glory here I come! I have my bonine, bungee cords, power strips, and room sign magnets. I have learned so much. I even told my husband that we must book our next cruise immediately upon debarkation to avoid PCD (Post Cruise depression)
Chriz Posted June 28, 2004 #107 Share Posted June 28, 2004
Michelle319-We were in cabin #6485 on the Glory 5/1/04. Hopefully you will have Marcello as your cabin steward, he was great! We also loved being at the back of the ship...very quiet. I'm so jealous, I want to go back now! Enjoy the Glory. 5/1/04~Carnival Glory~1st cruise and definitely not the last!
Thats the cabin my Wife and I are going to be in! We had the same cabin # on the Conquest and loved it. greenjello Posted June 28, 2004 #109 Share Posted June 28, 2004 We got married on The Glory October 2003- sailed with 26 family and friends! I didn't see much of Key West- that was the day of our wedding. But my husband managed to get off the ship and see Duval St., and have a Margarita at Margaritaville before the ceremony, :) Belize was the best stop for me- we did the snorkeling excursion with the sharks and stingrays- it was amazing! Only problem, all the guys were afraid to go in the water with the sharks :) and they got burnt sitting out in the hot sun waiting for the girls *** Bring Sunblock! The sun is strong here******... but like another post said, definately do an excursion in Belize, or stay on the ship! It is not the place to just go "walk around". In cozumel we did the Fiesta Party Boat- it was fun, but too early in the morning to start drinking for me. My 21 year old brother-in-law loved it though! total "booze cruise" In Progresso, We stayed on the ship and used up many drink coupons by the pool! About Camp Carnival- they do let the 9-11 year olds sign themselves out- my niece, who had just turned 9 the week before we left, did that one day and was found wandering the ship by my dad... it didn't go over too well with my brother-in-law! It depends on how reliable your kids are.. BUT! you can just tell the counselors that they can't sign out and then they have to wait for you to pick them up. We had kids from 9 months- 9 years with us.. those that were old enough to go to camp carnival loved it! I can't comment on the nightime babysitting things though, they all had "grandma's cabin" to go to :) Have fun, I can't wait to go again!
cruzme Posted June 28, 2004 #110 Share Posted June 28, 2004 Hello everyone- first time posting. I have truly enjoyed reading about all of your experiences on ship and can't wait to write and describe mine! :p Is there anyone out there embarking on 12/04? Gotta start dieting around October so I will still fit in my clothes at the end of the cruise!!
kemper1974 Posted June 28, 2004 #111 Share Posted June 28, 2004 Did the Western Carribean Glory on May 8th, it was the best. Had an inside cabin on the verandah deck, we were never in our room, so I had extra $$ for other things, like the casino and shopping! The cruise DIrector we had was Mark Price...he was such fun (and he was ill the whole cruise, missed one day, would have loved to see him at 100%!!!) Did get to go in the balcony cabin across the hall and take a peek...the balconies had 2 chairs, and not much space. We did have a mini bar in our room....brought along some coke and kept it in there.
ConCo Posted June 28, 2004 #112 Share Posted June 28, 2004 Just a few thoughts on the Glory. First of all, this was my 6th cruise, and my kids 4th. We had a group of 18 and had many different ages (2 - 72). The ship was spotless and very clean. I thought the layout was hard to get around compared to other ships I have been on (dining room are hard to get by, you have to go outside or up or down a few floors). Even though the ship is bigger, it seemed a lot more crowded. Elevators are kinda slow, but the ship has lots of passengers. Service was excellent, but I think we didn't get the best dining wait duo or cabin steward. They were good, but I've had better. Dining room food was good, but I've had better on other ships even Carnival. The buffet and other meal options were excellent. Pizza, grill, Oriental and Deli were awesome. My nephews loved Camp Carnival. They do an excellent job! Loved the pool layout and the slide was lots of fun. The CC, Mark Price was fantastic! Seas were rough during the middle of the cruise and the ship did rock quite a bit. Wasn't a problem for us though. We generally had perfect weather though with sunny skys every day with no rain. All in all, I've never had a bad time on a cruise, and this one was great, although I think I won't go on the Conquest type ships again, because of layout and crowded feeling. We are booked on the Costa Mediterranea next spring and it will be interesting to compare. Our favorite ship so far has been the Coral Princess. That being said, we will do Carnival again, but would like to try the Spirit class. cincyfire Posted June 28, 2004 #113 Share Posted June 28, 2004 I'm on the past guest cruise, Oct 30th. This will be my third, the other couples second. My gf and I recently split, I assume I can just change her reservation to someone else, if its before final payment. Anyone had to do this before? lsp Posted June 28, 2004 #115 Share Posted June 28, 2004 We were on the 6/12 Eastern Glory and had a great time. All of these people talking about the boat rocking must have been on another boat. The only time it was noticeable was when we left St. Maarten and were on our way home. It is a rocking motion like laying in a hammock at the beach. Of course there was one day when we went to the pool and the water was moving in an out of the pool. I didn't have the camera with me that day. The only time we noticed a crowd was when we were in line for the midnight gala buffet to take pictures. That line sucked! By the time were at the buffet they had started serving so we were first for that. If you go to Atlantis Resort and want to swim in their pool either just walk thru with a bunch of people or wait until the person guarding the door goes to smoke. Once you get in the pool, keep your arms in the water. They identify legal guests by an armband that you get at the towel cabana. The water was awsome. We had some great Carnival guest hosts. They kept everyone busy with different games throughout the week. The shows were good and the comedians were also. We didn't go to the magic show so I don't know about it. We started out with a bad waiter in the Golden dining room and made a request for a table change, a bigger one and went upstairs to Ivanna. She was great. Kept us entertained the rest of the week. We later found out our bad waiter, Ken, was voted employee of the month. Go figure. We took our own liquor in, just put in in a sperate suitcase and wrapped it real good with towels. Just make sure you check it in and not do carry on. Linda Liberty 9/05 Glory 6/04 Conquest 6/
kemper1974 Posted July 3, 2004 #116 Share Posted July 3, 2004 I have a photo of the water in the pool. They kicked the kids out because we had hit rough water on our last day and the pool turned into a wave pool of its own...got kinda dangerous because the kids were being sloshed back and forth...they were having a blast. The seas were about 5-8 feet, the pool was about 3 feet lower on one end than the other!
