cruisienewbie Posted March 13, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 13, 2006 Has anyone been to this yet? We're sailing on the PoAM and and will be in Hononlulu a few days before we sail. We're considering catching one of the shows if it's worth it. Any thoughts?:D
Suebee Posted March 13, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 13, 2006 I havent been, but I DID see a 5 minute preview on our morning news program one day. My kids were enthralled and wanted to go to see it. It was very interesting looking. We saw only a magic trick but it was one of those "how did they DO that?" kind of things. Here is one from early january...I am sure they have ironed things out by now: http://starbulletin.com/2006/01/20/features/story05.html and one from Frbruary http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/2006/Feb/24/il/FP602240325.html
seaweed5 Posted March 13, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 13, 2006 Have you seen any of Cirque du Soleil's other shows? I'm assuming that it's similar. Extremely artistic, but kind of "out there" for some people. Personally, I love them and I intend to see Cirque Hawaii during our vacation this summer. Spikesgirl Posted March 13, 2006 #4 Share Posted March 13, 2006 What is this, please? I'm familiar with Cirque du Soiel (or however it's spelt), but I've not heard of this. Just curious. Thanks! Charlie
Suebee Posted March 14, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 14, 2006 From 101 things to do in Hawaii: Cirque Hawaii has exploded on Waikiki's entertainment scene with all the joie de vivre that can be expected from a show patterned in the tradition of the wildly popular and purely magical Cirque du Soleil performances of Las Vegas and international fame. Mounted by two former Cirque du Soleil performers, the Waikiki show features a troupe of 34 award-winning aerialists, acrobats and dancers from around the world. The show is staged in the Cirque Hawaii Theatre, formerly the IMAX Theater, at 325 Seaside Ave. in Waikiki. The performance is not so much a circus but a story about a circus choreographed by a former Cirque du Soleil performer. The costumes, music and lighting, acrobatic artistry and fine-tuned talents of the performers are laced together to bring precision and enchantment to the magical illusion of the show. The story follows the journey of lead character Josephine, who searches the globe for the best talent for her exotic circus. Flamboyant costumes, extravagant theatrical make-up and captivating music add to the spell of a well-crafted show with highly skilled performers. From Barefoot Tours: CIRQUE HAWAII - is a multi million dollar state of the art theatrical entertainment and sensory delight showcasing world renowned and award wining talent that brings together over 40 performers and 15 renowned acts from around the world to entertain Hawaiian audiences. With 70 foot high aerial apparatus, artists will perform feats of daring beauty. Witness high-energy dance, acrobats, amazing balancing acts along with aerialists, clowns, contortionists, flying trapeze and much more. Staging, lights and special effects will be state of the art, featuring Surround Sound, Projections, Hazers & Foggers along with synchronized intelligent lighting. 478 seats and 2 shows nightly in downtown Waikiki at 325 Seaside Avenue
cruisienewbie Posted March 14, 2006 Author #6 Share Posted March 14, 2006 Thanks for the information. It really is helpful. I think we're planning on seeing it while we're there. I haven't seen it in person (I haven't been anywhere near a show) but I would really like to see it.
