time zones and getting to the boat on time

The ship will be on whichever time zone it originates from, so if you sail out of Miami, then it will be on Eastern Time. Read your capers each day to find out whether the ship changes time zones when it gets to ports. Some do and others don't. You should always keep your watch set to SHIP time. And, don't go by your cell phone time because it will automatically change time zones. :)

When we sailed on the Victory (which departs out of Miami), the ship stayed on Eastern time throughout the entire cruise. Didn't matter what time it was in port. Best to wear a watch that is set to ship time and don't depend on the locals to tell you what time it is, as the port could very well be in a different time zone.

I agree You need to keep you watch on ship time. This will be pounded into your brain every day for the first couple of days because someone always miss's the boat because the are on Island Time. And don't worry about the tour operators they all know (or at least should ) the correct for your ship. the port agents make sure they tell the operators every daqy because each ship is different and sometime it is differnt each week.
