lorasmom Posted March 13, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 13, 2006 A few years ago, when I was on CCL Fascination, there was a "Behind the scenes" kitchen tour available - does anyone know if the same type of tour will be available on the 3-day Majesty? TIA!
dyanna72 Posted March 13, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 13, 2006 I also have been on both the Fascination & the Majesty. It seems that only Carnival has the galley tour. Bummer as this was quite an interesting thing to see & the free taste-testing items were quite wonderful!
Valentine's Mom Posted March 13, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 13, 2006 We did a galley tour a few years ago on either the Voyager or the Exployer. All it really was was a walk through and a talk. Not much going on except one man was carving a watermelon. The most interesting thing was the escalator (sp?) at the end for the wait staff to deliver the food. It was REALLY FAST! You really had to hold on! Didn't see much though just a lot of freezer type cupboards and work tables. They did offer cookbooks at this time though. ChoosinCruisin Posted March 13, 2006 #4 Share Posted March 13, 2006 Make good friends with your head waiter ($$) and he can arrange a tour for you. If he says no ask the Maitre D.
philamom Posted March 13, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 13, 2006 This sounds very interesting. My husband is an executive chef (had been a chef for almost 17 years) and he would love to take a ship kitchen tour. I will have to see if I can set it up for when we are on the Explorer in October
premiumrican Posted March 13, 2006 #6 Share Posted March 13, 2006 I was on the Monarch in 1998 when it was doing the Southern Caribbean route. Back then they had a different themed midnight buffet every evening. One evening the buffet was actually held in the galley. You would walk thru the various stations get your food while you saw the action in the background.
