So how much do you spend?

Recommended Posts

About $200.00 per day for the two of us on a 7 night cruise. This includes prepaid tips, specialty restaurants, all drinks, wine etc. onboard, photos and all the other assorted things that come your way :D Casino not included...don't bother much with it anymore. Excursions (if any) are accounted for before the trip.

My dh and I are 31 and 29 respectively. We have been on 2 cruises the first we were pinching pennies spent $200 cash and $600 on sea pass. Last summer on Enchantment we didn't really care we spent about $400 cash and $750 on sea pass, we spent every night in the casino, but we gamble small. We drank quite bit, Viking at night; bought a few photos, specialty restuarants etc. We didn't book excursions through rcc though, and we only did two on our own all week. Tipping well at the bar helps get you free drinks and we aren't into the spa. So like the others say it depends on what you like to spend money on.

Boy this is an eye opener for me! I think I better plan on spending more $$. For me and my 3 teenagers the seapass bill was $240. That was for 2child/1adult soda cards, internet time, some casino $, some drinks and some (inexpensive) gifts. I brought traveler's checks for tipping (approx $400), charged the shore trips and gifts ashore. Regarding liquor -- I brought 2 bottles of wine aboard as well as 2 sports bottles with rum/vodka. My mom and I would bring a glass of wine down to dinner with us every night. If we were in the mood we'd go back to the cabin to change after dinner and bring another drink with us to the show. Just not having to buy those 2 drinks/day added up (and made the times we bought drinks easier). I always buy small gifts in port (for a memento), and figure for anything substantial (which I haven't done yet) I could use the credit card. Good luck and happy cruising.

We are budgeting $1000 for 2 for 7 days, which will include probably about $200 on board credits...we are very frugal in "real life", but will go all out for our honeymoon. We are not gamblers, but like a drink and will buy photos. Excursions will be paid in advance.

On our first couple of cruises we had to have pictures, spa treatments etc. so our bill was about a $1,000 for three of us.

On our last cruise it was only about $35.00. We did have shipboard credit by TA and pre-booking cruise credit and chose shipboard credit from our MBNA credit card. That shipboard credit was wonderfull because it took care of tipping the crew.

Oh heavens....most of you guys posting what you spend for two in a week is what I spend for one! LOL

I don't do the spa, don't buy many pictures (two or three), and generally pre-pay my excursions, but may book one or two while onboard.

Blackjack and booze....gets expensive I guess. LOL

You can see that there is a wide variation, depending on you, your budget, and what you want out of the cruise. One bit of advice, you will save if you book excursions through sources other than the cruise line.

Now add this all up and there is one thing I can say:

The memories - - -Priceless

Robinsilver, the only excursion we want to do is the snuba on St Thomas. I tried asking for info for private company, but no one responded. From what I found it was cheeper to go through the ship. What was really expensive was the transportation to get to the diving place. Like 65.00 round trip for three. Booking through the ship it's included. I'll try asking again. Thanks.

Planning our first cruise and trying to estimate how much we will spend. Not including the cost of the cruise. Just specialty dinning, JR's, drinks and everything else. And tips. How much do you all allow?:)

The last cruise I was on there was a couple that spent $79,000.00 in the casino (no crap - I talked to the DH they won almost the same amount back -luckily. He didn't seem to care. I think they were high rollers - his wife was on TV). And no, I wasn't Martha Stewart.

For 5 of us, we spent $1200.00 on the ship for the week and another couple hundred on a shore excursion.

Geez we average $100 a day just on the bar tab. Come to think of it I think that's all we spend money on other then in the ports. Almost forgot, the kids arcade bill was almost as much as the bar tab :D

For the 3 of us we spend about $1200 - $1300 for the week:

$100 parking

$300 for tips

$100 for a bottle of wine, drinks, and cigar bar

$150 Bingo

$150 spa

$100 for 2 soda cards

$50 specialty restaurant

$50 specialty coffee, ice cream, misc.

$50 laundry/dry cleaning

$50 arcade

$150 taxis, shore excursions

That doesn't count gambling money, occasional souveniers, and we no longer buy pictures. It does add up but we want to enjoy our vacation and splurge a little.
