condition of coral reefs in Ocho Rios and Cozumel, after hurricanes?

Recommended Posts

I have heard the coral reef in Cozumel was damaged. Has anyone snorkled there lately?

25 years ago I saw the most vivid, colorful, yellow, purple, etc. coral off shore at Ocho Rios. Is it still beautiful? I have wondered if the coral has died. The coral I saw in Belize and Cozumel (on three occasions) was all covered in green, looked dead. Not beautiful colors, although the other snorkelers didn't seem to notice.

Perhaps my first exposure to coral was unique and not to be duplicated... but I would sure like to know if anyone else has the same experience.

Still looking for that underwater world of beauty and amazement after 25 years.

We are going to Ocho Rios and Cozumel and Grand Cayman the week of April 30. If anyone recommends a particular shore excursion, we would appreciate it. We would go with the ship or with independent operators.
