Stupidest thing heard on cruise

Heh, lots of great stuff here.

That question actually makes sense, once you think about it. Depending on weather conditions, time of day, where the sun is, ship's heading, etc, I can completely see what they meant.

One side might have you sitting in shadow, one in the sun, or one side might have you looking into the sun and not being able to see very well, while the other side had the sun at your back with a great view, etc.

Stupidest thing I ever heard was when a dealer onboard told a man to shutup after the man told him to smile it will be alright. This could also fall under one of the rudiest things I have ever heard .

The paper question to the purser is not really a stupid question because the ships have papers emailed in and print copies for suite passangers and they are also available at the pursers desk. Usually it is the NY Times. Also, could have been asking for todays paper being the capers.

The tour director was wrong. Not too far away, the island of Hispaniola is "owned" by the nations of Haiti and Dominican Republic. On the island of New Guinea you will find the nation of Papua New Guinea on the west side of the island and the region called "Irian Jaya" on the east, which is part of the nation of Indonesia.

I wouldn't call this stupid, just odd. I came down the midship stairs, on the Pride, which are right in front of the bank of four elevators and next to the glass elevators in the atrium. An older gentleman had just walked up the stairs and looked at me with total exhaustion and asked if I knew where the elevators were. I pointed behind him. He never said thanks or acted like it was a dumb question. This was probably the fourth or fifth day of the cruise so it was very odd he wouldn't know where the elevators were.

Hi Sea-Cruise. I did wonder the same thing. It was so odd because he really looked "winded" coming up the stairs. Honestly, you'd have to be blind not to see all the elevators from that staircase. At least he rode the elevator the day I showed him where they were. icon_biggrin.gif

They take the passengers who disregard the dress code, or who are caught smuggling alcohol, and put them on a treadmill in the engine room.

I just got back from the Destiny, which had 1200+ "Locals" (Puerto Ricans) on board. While standing at the information desk, a woman said "does anyone here speak Spanish, because I prefer to speak Spanish." The lady behind the desk said "No, I'm the only one here right now, and I don't speak Spanish." The guest started ranting and raving (IN ENGLISH) about how rude it was not to have a completely bilingual staff. OKAY, I understand Carnival needs to accomodate all of the locals on board, but this woman spoke WONDERFUL English and knew enough of the language to tell off an employee for 5 minutes, yet she wanted to speak spanish to ask for 2 stamps. What a jerk.

On a Princess cruise, I told one of my tablemates that a net was put over the swimming pool because lobsters were kept in there for formal nights. She believed me.. for a minute..then someone told her not so.

1.We actually heard an older gentleman ask in the Photo Gallery "How do I find my pictures?"

2.We had left the ship at Cozumel(island of) to go to Tulum (on the mainland) on a fairly rough crossing on a ferry. On the way back, a woman insisted that the Mexican bus driver tell her where to catch the bus that was going back to the ship. He was understanding English up to that point but all of a sudden found out he couldn't understand a word she was saying.

She was still looking when we go on the ferry to go back.

The story about the ruins reminded me. We were in line to get back on the ship and I heard a man saying to some people he knew [or not].
"The ruins were a rip off. They were all man made."

Bunkie103 you can get copies of like the New York Times on ship-it looks like a memographed or zeroxed copy. I guess they receive it by internet and then run off copies. Hubby was playing "Fanasty football" so had to keep up with scores to set his players for his game. He took it all seriously and actually had to read newpapers to see how he did with his score to see how his "players" made out. So even out to sea if you go to the purser's desk you can get copies of newspapers.

The stupidist thing I ever heard was someone complaining about the food in the main dinningroom and who then said"and on these islands you can't find a Mac Donalds or Burger King anywhere."

This one I heard on my 1st cruise on the Imagination in 01/00. The cruise director was mentioning his favorite stupid customer questions. He said a little old lady came up to him as he was standing by the elevators and asked him if that was the elevator that would take her to the FRONT of the ship! Too funny!

On my Paradise cruise, we were scheduled to dock in Cozumel at noon...it was listed in the travel documents, website and everything. One women with a painted face and frightening, fake, red, teased hair was complaining that she was going to miss her excursion in Cozumel because the ship was getting there at noon.

She scheduled her excursion for 9am. And somehow, this was all Carnival's fault. She was going to go to the Purser's desk and complain the last I saw of her.

Jeez, I can't help but wonder how some people manage to dress themselves in the mornings without strangling themselves with a bra or a tube sock.

One woman was complaining that her 12 pack of beer had been confiscated at check in. Her husband told her she should have hid it in something more believable than a Slim Fast carton!

Just off the Victory to nowhere, second day out at sea and woman says "the ship is moving". I'm pretty sure she meant there was a lot of motion but it just sounding really stupid standing in the middle of a crowd out in the middle of the ocean.
