Stupidest thing heard on cruise

On the Ecstasy in December, we left about 2 hours(?) late due to computer problems at the pier in Long Beach.

Wandering through the ship, I overheard several staff members reassuring passengers that, yes, we would likely make it into Catalina on time.

(For those not in on the joke, the island of Catalina is roughly 25 miles off the coast of Southern California.)

The cruise director told this one so I don't know if it really happened but he claimed a passenger asked why the steward kept putting pats of butter on her pillow every night.

On a tour on the island of Dominica, the guide was pointing to us the different varieties of bananas grown on the island. One woman on the tour yelled out which ones are "CHIQUITA BANANAS"

The whole bus just busted out in laughter. Her husband wanted to crawl under his seat and die!!

Also, I would add that the stupidest thing I heard on the cruise was his "Bye Y'All" every time.

well stupidest thing I heard this trip was when I was attempting to resolve a $744 TAX on a 4.95 drink the guy at the info desk said "oh thats not a tax, thats a TIP".

Yea, that makes sense. I tipped 744 on a beer that already gets a 15% grat. I don't think so.

And I understand, dan, about the whole azipod thing. At the Captain's dinner on my first paradise cruise, I got to sit at the table with him and the chief engineer. By the end of dinner both were looking at me in somewhat of a shock. Captain G told me the story about when one azipod lost the bearing that required the fix that led to the first ever shore based maintenance of an azipod (elation got a fix too), and Chf. Engineer Rossi looked very very shocked. When I started talking to him about his preferences in the realm of diesel electric vs. diesel azipod, it might have tripped some sort of overload in his brain [img]http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif[/img]
I'm sure the next time i'm on a non-azipod ship i'll have a fit and begin telling EVERYONE how awful it is to maneuver with just stern thrusters [img]http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif[/img]
