felicia007 Posted March 15, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 15, 2006 Just wondering if I'll need a bungee cord to prop open the balcony door. Do they swing or slide open? Thanks!
Pjamesf Posted March 15, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 15, 2006 Mine on floor 8 just stayed open. I assume the rest are that way. We left it open most nights
newhope Posted March 15, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 15, 2006 On the Dawn and the Sun, the door slides open. There is a switch on the side of the door that allows you to control how far the door stays open.

Volleyball Posted March 16, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 16, 2006 Was on the POAm in January, cabin 10052. The door stayed open the entire trip as we don't care for air conditioning and we loved the sound of the ocean. Here's a tip: When you leave the cabin anytime you are out to sea, it's a good idea to remember to close the balcony door. Once, we forgot. Upon returning later on, when I opened the hallway door, the wind pressure (seemed like a hundred miles an hour) blew every paper we had in the room right out the balconey door and into the ocean. Thank God I didn't lose any valuable papers, just a lot of newspapers, brouchures and the daily newsletter. The wind even began moving the towel animal but I caught it in time. Once the hallway door was closed, there was no wind at all out on the balcony and we spent most of our time out there. Just don't open both doors at the same time...turns out to be some sort of a pressurized air lock. I could see someone becoming seriously injured when opening the hallway door as it could slam shut due to the difference in air pressure between the hallway and the room. Other than that, the ship was great and we had an awesome cruise.
