Are the Casinos still smoking on Carnival?

Last year on RCCL it was horrible, smokers were using the casino as a smoking area.  .

That is what happens when you ban smoking on private balconies and throughout the entire ship except one outdoor, tiny venue on the Lido Deck and the Casino.

You get a venue that should just have a handful of gamblers smoking, and add in all the other smokers trying to smoke indoors.

There should be a large bar for smoking and a few other sensible venues to spread the smokers out a bit throught the ship.

Booked later this year on Mardi Gras, just wondering if they still allow smoking in the Casino?  I am not a smoker and really hate the smell on my clothes.  I am also not a big gambler, but I do like to donate a few bucks each cruise. LOL.  Last year on RCCL it was horrible, smokers were using the casino as a smoking area.  You could not get away from it.  Needless to say I did not donate much on that cruise.  That is one thing that I really like about Celebrity, they really control where the smokers can hang out and smoke.  It is not the casino.  Now smokers don't flame me, I know you want to enjoy your cruise too, but it is annoying to smell it and it give me a headache sometimes.

A couple/few weeks ago I read, with some dismay, that Celebrity is doing a "test run" of allowing vaping in the casino (only on one ship now, as I understand it). I couldn't help but think, WTH are they doing/thinking ?!!

I had no idea they didn’t already allow vaping!  If they’re allowing smoking, why would it matter if they also allow vaping.  Vape “smoke” is far less offensive than cigarette smoke (and that’s coming from a cigarette smoker…).

Celebrity casinos have been smoke free (all types) for years.

I’m aware.  I’m just asking that, since Carnival DOES allow cigarette smoking in the casino, what is the harm in also allowing vaping?

Here is the link to Carnival's regulations that cover the restrictions on smoking (of ANY kind) and marijuana use:   https://www.carnival.com/about-carnival/legal-notice/ticket-contract.aspx?icid=CC_Footer_84

(Specifically,  Section 9, paragraph C)

Carnival's Smoking Policy:   https://www.carnival.com/help/3839

Please note that Carnival has changed some of these regulations making what/when/where people can use tobacco much more restrictive than in the past.

Particularly, the casino. Smoking is not allowed in the casino UNLESS you are sitting and actually "playing/gambling". Also, no smoking at the casino bar. And no smoking in the casino when it is closed.

SHIP SPECIFIC SMOKING AREAS (good, concise listings):   https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3490/

It might be helpful for anyone who uses any kind of smoking "items" to read all the sections on these regarding ship regulations. Also, there are bits of information in each of these links that aren't necessarily in all of them....so read all closely.  Hope this helps! For both smokers and non-smokers.

Carnival only allows smoking while actively gambling in the smoking casino, can no longer sit at the bar and smoke. Infact some bars were removed from casinos I don't remember which class ships that was. Dream class ships have a no smoking casino on deck 4 but have no craps table.

Ya, but all you have to do is walk through any casino and see how many people are just sitting there at a machine smoking and not playing (often sideways in their chairs not even facing the machine).  All removing the bar area did was encourage more people to take up machines to sit at while the smoke.  And as in all things Carnival, they never enforce this rule!

I have to laugh because my husband smokes which I hate!  He always has to go to the outside smoking area now.  He got lazy a couple cruises back when it was pouring rain outside and decided to "break" the rules once and sit down at a machine and just have a quick ciggy, and the one old man he sat down next to started giving him all kinds of grief for smoking and not playing.  Even flagging down one of the bar staff members and complaining to him.  Guess the guy just shrugged and walked away.  He told me this when he came back from having his cigarette - I looked him square in the face and said "serves you right,"  I hope that old man complained at you nonstop lol!

PS:  Something else I will say as a non smoker.  On ships we sail on (not Excel class) they have a non smoking section too (not an actual room, but a section), and it is useless.  Again as someone who hates smoke it aggravates me because you will see people smoking in this section regardless with no one telling them they can't... and the smoke drifts everywhere so it is useless to have a "section".  I don't gamble a lot but like to play slots every now and then, and I can't stand it for long for this very reason.

As a non smoker, I will walk up a level or two, across and back down to avoid the stench. Actively breathing in cancer is not appealing. Would be like drinking round up while spraying weeds 😫 I also stay on the non smoking side of the ship while outside. A non smoking section is like someone peeing in the pool. Can’t separate it.
