There is a portion of the street leading away from the port that you can park on.  It fills quickly.  There is a park on one side, the kids were having football practice there, so parents were using some of those spaces.  We lucked out and nabbed one when the practice was over.

Could be Nāwiliwili Park on Google maps? Looks  like parking along the water also?

Anchor Cove mall offers overnight parking for $20. But you have to be out of the parking by 9AM.

On Thursday night I returned back to port at 9PM and there was no parking spot available along Nawiliwili road or even in front of the Banyan resort or condo. Anchor Cove parking was about one third full.

They have a shuttle from the mall to the port but at 9PM was not running. I saw it in the morning at about 8:30 PM though

has anyone had any recent experience with renting a car on Kauai?  Do you know whether Budget and Avis still have a shuttle bus to and from the pier?  Thx for any help!

Rented from them in March.

Yes there is a shuttle to AP.

Use Fast Break reservation for Budget.. Fastest car I have ever gotten was there.

Recommend Jeeps on all the islands.

Not many Gas station near AP, cost was over $5.50/ gal.

Yes, Avis/Budget still sends a shuttle.to the pier. Avis is who I rent from and it couldn't be easier.

Yup, just did it last Thur (5/23/24). Hint 1, hustle your butt down to the gangplank before it opens, to jockey for the shuttle. When the shuttle came, he was only taking drivers to fit the most people on the bus, some had to wait for the next shuttle. Hint 2, sit closest to the front of the shuttle possible to get in the front of the queue at the rental counter, it can be very slow getting the paper work done.
