Mini rant on St. Thomas . . .

BTW when we stayed on our land vacation in St. Thomas in Nov. 2005 they required you to have a passport to board the ferry to St John. I am guessing if you do a tour w/ RCI to Trunks Bay or St. John this is could be different, but if you do it on your own from St. Thomas you might want to double check to see if it is required.

My question--or mini rant--is this: when a novice comes to this board, or to the STT port board, and asks, "What do I do on St. Thomas?" why is the answer invariably, "Go to St. John"? It would be the same as asking what to do in Texas and the answer is go to New Mexico. Or, what do I do in New Jersey? Go to New York. (OK--that one might be right!)

Because, quite often, what people want to know (even though they don't phrase it that way) is - "What's the best thing to do the day the ship is in St. Thomas".

Another vote for St. John. St. Thomas too commercial for my taste.

There are no sherpas involved, just taxi and ferry across. Depending on what you want to do another taxi may be involved around the Island of St. John. Great food too......:cool:

Never been asked for passport on ferry in my many trips. Always have it tho. I never leave home without it:D
