Camp carnival question

Can children eat at the camp or are they always expected to eat with their parents? Do all kids seem to love the camp? Those of you that have taken children on cruises, do they usually go to the camp daily? I'm so used to our vacations revolving around the kids, I can't imagine them spending time doing their own things.

Diane,

I'm not sure how it work on other ships, but on the Pride Camp Carnival was closed for two hours at lunch time and closed again from late afternoon until, I think 6:00. Also, I don't think dinner is available with Camp Carnival except on formal night when they have a pizza party for the kids.

As to whether the kids like it...my kids didn't. They are 9 and 12 and would have been in separate groups because of their ages. The first problem was that they didn't want to be separated. The second problem was that my son's (12) age group ranged from 12 - 15 and their main activity seemed to be hanging out in the teen disco. He did not want to spend his time with kids so much older than himself in the teen disco. Consequently, neither child participated.

But all kids are different and I've only heard good things about Camp Carnival.

I hope that was of some help.

Yolanda, thanks for your response. My kids are 6, 9 and 12, so they'd also all be in differnt groups. Probably okay for my 6 year old, and my 12 (almost 13 year old) would like the teen dance club. But I think my 9 year old might be shy about being separated from her siblings with strangers. I guess we'll see when we get there. I would be perfectly happy having my kids spend the day with us, but I want them to have the best time they can possibly have as well.

Diane,

Ya know, even without Camp Carnival, they had the time of their lives. There is so much to see and do that they couldn't help but have fun. I'm sure your kids will also have a great time.

they can eat with the camp all but the first and last nights for dinner. My son was 5 1/2 and he loved every minute of it. He went every day including on port day, and never wanted to be with us and would be mad when we came. We did go may 8th so there werent tons of kids on board. It was perfect. we also used the after 10pm service several times, the kids had a great time

I know you are allowed to drop a child into a lower group. Say the 9 yr old could go into the 6-8 if you asked them. They know some kids dont like to be seperated. As for mine, she is 5, I had to drag her away and when she wasnt there she was asking when they opened back up. EXCEPT for when the waterslide was open...LOL She loved eatting with them, cuz then she could have lots of Pizza and ice cream. I made her eat yukky veggies lol But tell them you want the 2 together. They will make every effort to accomodate. They will not however, upgrade up into an age group. So that is out. Hope this helps.

Diane65, I believe it depends upon the age of the child. Older children do go numerous places with the counselors. We sailed with a 4 year old and he stayed at the CC area unless the counselors notified us in advance and got permission to take him other places on the ship. I was 100% comfortable with the counselors and the care they gave the 4 year old.

Daughter loves the new eat with Camp policy. It is all but first and last nights I believe. Also, depending on the age if they leave the area and it is always listed in the program and they usually have you drop off at the other area. Our DD loves camp.
