Question Re: Grand Suite on Golden Princess

I am trying to find information about the Grand Suite on the Golden Princess, but the description seems to be of the Grand Suite on the Grand Princess.

Does anyone have pictures of this suite on the GOLDEN?

Also, does the Golden have the hot tub on the deck as well as a fireplace?

Any info about this particular suite on the GOLDEN would be greatly appreciated.

I sailed for a week in this suite in 2002 or 2003. It does not have a fireplace inside or a hottub on the verandah. The suite is huge and very nicely decorated. But, there was TOTAL absence of service of any kind other than normal cabin steward service. I hope that Princess has changed that and brought back some suite perks. Sorry, I don't have any pictures that I can send to you.

Thank you for the response. I had butler service on celebrity and didn't particularly want that level of attention. It was almost awkward.

However, one service I am interested in is embarkation. Did you notice a significant difference with this?

Ohmigosh! That is wonderful! I am taking my mom for her 80th birthday, and wanted to surprise her. After some excellent posts on this board, I decided to tell her in advance. It was excellent advice as she is enjoying the anticipation of the cruise. However, I was left with a sense of disappointment that there is no surprise left.

Now that I saw these pictures, I have a renewed sense of excitement at getting to "surprise" her with something!

Are these pics from the Golden Princess herself?!

Also, is it possible to change the bed to two?

Finally, if you have any info on how priority embarkation works, I would love to learn more about it. I believe embarkation will take place in Red Hook (NYC).

Thanks again!

The beds in the Grand Suites on all of the Grand ships are king beds and do not divide.

We had the Grand Suite on the Grand about a year and half ago. As I understand it, it is the only Princess ship with a hot tub on the veranda. It also had a fireplace. I'm not sure whether other Princess Grand Suites on other ships have a fireplace or not. But obviously from the poster who has been in the Golden Grand Suite, it does not.

I also agree with Goldsmip, there is really no service other than the normal cabin steward service or normal room service. Even with the suite perks, there is no additional service involved. So Sfvoyager, its a good thing you don't want that.

As far as embarkation, the priority embarkation is that you go through the suite check-in line. There was no special embarkation other than that and no one came and greeted us and escorted us to the room. When we were in a Royal Suite on Celebrity, a hostess came, greeted us, and brought an escort with her--she and the escort walked us onto the ship, bypassing the lines, and then the escort took us to the stateroom. Since you've been on Celebrity, if this is what you were thinking it would be, it is not. After you go through the Suite check-in line, then you go through the regular line to get on the ship, although if you are there early, the disabled and the suite passengers are allowed to go first when boarding first begins.
