Dining Recommendations

Does anyone have any recommendations for dining in Marigot? We will be heading there after the horseback ride at the Bayside Riding Stables and would like to grab lunch over there. Something with a Caribbean flare to it?

Tony Bourdain, the chef, had an interesting article in the New York Times travel section a while ago; Pigtail Soup With the Chef, regarding food on St. Maarten.

His recommendation for something Caribbean in Marigot was Rosemary's Lolo.

Across from the harbor parking lot in Marigot, a few doors down from the water's edge, is the best of the lot: Rosemary's.

The impressive Rosemary herself helps hustle spicy jerk chicken and ribs, snapper and lambi creole, a hearty dish of stewed conch, stewed oxtail, whole roasted fish and fried fish. Throngs of locals and the resident French and Dutch cluster happily around oilcloth-topped tables. Rosemary also serves an amazing preparation of curried goat, a heaping pile of tender braised goat falling off the bone in generous amounts of aromatic, clove-scented Caribbean-style curry sauce, served with the ubiquitous rice and pigeon peas (or with rice and kidney beans) sweet plantain, salad and potato.

I'm not sure that I would call it a Lolo, but it may be worth a visit. We often hang out at Toro's Corner, a couple of doors down, but usually just for some beers and to chat with John.

Rosemary's is located at about where the 't' is in the 'Market Place' label on the Marigot Map on this page.
