MIA to FLL transfers

What would be the most economical way to get from The Miami airport to a hotel in Fort Lauderdale a day before our cruise? We have transfers from Princess post cruise, but could not get them for our arrival since we are arriving a day early.

Most economical way is to rent a car at the Miami Airport and then return it to the Fort Lauderdale airport, preferably after dropping all your luggage and traveling companions off first at the pier. Just be sure driver is holding all papers necessary to check in for the ship.
