When we bought them at the Cruise Next counter, onboard, we didn't ask if they could be in our home (Canadian) currency.

Just out of curiosity (as it does not apply to me), could the cruise next certificates have been purchased in Canadian dollars? Did you ask?

I just bought some CN last month and was told the currency will be in whatever you paid for the current cruise in which for me was CAD. He did asked me if I wanted them in to be in USD instead. The exchange rate is also set at the time of purchase. It is also not hard to change the currency later, which I have done a few times with no problem.

Can the shareholder benefit be used with all sales and comps like a casino at sea pricing? We have a 19 day repo in April, so this would give us 250 OBC?  Thanks in advance.

Yes.  I always book through CAS and get a casino OBC in addition to shareholders.

Quick answer is that people want to leave the ship without a big bill.  It isn't mandatory.  Even though I get $200 OBC, between casino and shareholder benefit, I try to prepay as much as possible.  Worst case, I'll run to the duty free on the last night and buy a couple bottles of Champagne 🙂

FWIW, this has nothing to do with the shareholder OBC, which cannot be applied to DSC.

We pre-pay so that portion of the bill is done and paid for before we get onboard. It's possible (not proud of this) our bill that was charged to us was in the low 4 figures...definitely glad we didn't have to add another $550 to that! My husband would have given me a talking to, for sure. Yay fresh wallet as the cruise line likes to call it. We definitely fell into their trap on this sailing.
