Roo_Travels Posted November 19, 2023 #1 Share Posted November 19, 2023 I was recently looking at booking an Alaska voyage on NCL specifically the norwegian encore for the may 12 sailing. The cabin in question was a haven 1 bedroom aft penthouse. When booking for 2 people, the cabin shows as available. We are a party of 3, and when entering 3 people, it would show as “cabin not available”. The cabin is listed as having a maximum capacity for 4, although we still are under that yet it already is unavailable. We know that there are indeed rooms left as when booking for 2, the room reflects as available. However somehow when booking for 3, it goes as “cabin not available”. Any help would be appreciated! bonvoyagie Posted November 19, 2023 #3 Share Posted November 19, 2023 Did they offer an alternate cabin? It could also be that they were at lifeboat capacity with two.
European_CruiseGirl Posted November 19, 2023 #4 Share Posted November 19, 2023 The problem is due to lifeboat capacity at that section. There are so many people already booked at that section’s other cabins that the lifeboats allow only 2 more people for that cabin that you are trying to book. For that same reason, if a person is not sure if they’ll be 2 or more in a cabin it is always better to first book with the max amount of people they think might be going and then remove a person or persons if that person/persons cannot go. It is easy to remove a person but due to lifeboat capacity sometimes impossible to add one or more to the cabin later even if the cabin itself would accommodate the additional pax.
