OBC Usage??

For what goods and services does Oceania allow OBC's to be used?

 

Gratuities? Beauty Salon? Etc.?

 

Please help by telling me specifically. Thank you, fellow cruisers.

We use for bar services, massage, manicures and pedicures( even for men) shop purchases, excursions, if on Riviera, Marina or Vista cooking classes. Also certail special cocktail or scotch tastings.

Lots of ways to use them.

The "best" use is for gratuities, that you are billed at the end of the cruise. So that is saving you real dollars and cents, as opposed to pennies on the dollar for seriously overpriced massages, spa items, drinks, etc.

 

You can NOT use them in the casino.

 

Though the new Simply More Excursion credit does NOT work like OBC. Only for Excursions.

Sorry never thought about gratuities as ours are included with our club status, so not an issue.

As MEFIowa mentioned, just be careful about which flavor of OBCs....

The excursion credits cannot be used for anything besides excursions.....and if your excursion gets canceled, you must find another excursion to use them or lose them. Hence, try to schedule usage of your excursion credits early in the voyage to avoid possibly losing them if an excursion later in the voyage is canceled.

Remember you can use Simply More excursion credits for cooking classes or La Reserve as they are booked through Destination Services.  Of course these are only available on Riviera, Marina and Vista.

Forgive me if I am mistaken but I thought you could only use it for culinary excursions not culinary classes.  If someone with experience can confirm.

With Simply More, the excursions are priced as:  "Tour Price", "Simply More Shore Excursion Package" and "Unlimited" - I have looked on the Oceania site but have been unable to find the descriptions - does anyone have a link?

Tour price is the price of each tour.  Simply More Shore Excursion Package is the price of the excursion if you purchase the minimum necessary to get a 25% discount on all booked excursions (# required varies depending upon length of cruise) and Unlimited is the price (0 or an add on) if you purchase the Unlimited Shore Excursion Package for the cruise (not available on all cruises)

Thanks. Just outside the period for booking, so will need to wait a couple of weeks as this view is not available when I log in.  Also, I have not seen any place to purchase the Unlimited - maybe not available yet either?

It's been my experience that the Unlimited is not worth the extra money.  You can do the math and see for yourself.

According to the Oceania reps (thru my TA), the unlimited excursion package is no longer available under Simply More. (Presumably still available for cruisers who booked before SM)

 

If anyone knows differently, please correct me as it might be useful for one of my upcoming cruises!

Pre cruise with SM can the excursions only SBC (OBC) be used unequally between the 2 people on the booking ?

IE: Once one person has used up their excursion SBC, if they booked another excursion, will it come out the other person’s excursion SBC, or would it come out of other ‘regular’ SBC ( if available) ?

The SM SBC is per person and can not be combined
